Vampire Dossier: Adelyn Belle’rose
Authored by: Atticus Stratlace
Description:
Red hair cut short, maybe pretty but with pail skin.
Copy of Picture: A modest portrait of a young vermillion-haired lady with pallid flesh, her emerald gaze looks intently at the viewer, betraying the aspect’s alluring facade with callous indifference. The suggestion of a predatory smile appears hidden within the corners of full upturned lips.
Additional notes: She has red hair cut to a short style, she herself is likewise not tall. She has very pail skin and is said to be ‘moderately’ good looking – but nothing more.
Overview
Priestess of Gargauth – tenth lord of hell. Fought with an entourage of thralls.
She’s capable in support of her thralls, enabling them to fight well. She can do some magic herself also, but when cornered and on her own she is easily overwhelmed with martial talent
Personality is cloying – very much wishing to instil her place in society dispute being a vampire (another weakness?)
Makes regular use of deception and disguises. Good at disguises but likely not an expert.
Mixture of thralls/servants, of various races and genders.
Thralls included human woman known as “Red.” - A man, and also a halfling man – all frantically loyal.
She is a scholar and highly studied and learned, as well as manipulative.
She was also briefly known as “Siren” and operated out of Sencliff during year 170
In year … was a Adept at the Erudite Arcarnum – 174 AR
Cordor Period
Worked in the Cordor Musemn with others, translating, funding and otherwise adding to the collection. She was eventually outed (circumstance needed) She has published and collated dozens of books – mostly relating to history.
AT one point (post 175?) wanted recognition from Guldorand and allowance within the city. First threatened to kill people until she got it, then lived up to those threats. She used thralls and herself to attack the city, killing a few people (but loosing thralls in the process)
She tried to accost Gwenlillian with thralls, disguised as a Guldorand guard. But whilst she was well covered her uniform was imperfect and Gwenllian caught on. She called for guards and fled, she was followed, but she got to safty and the vampire and thralls fled. They then met a ‘Daniel’ and were all killed – save Bella’rose.
She then went quiet for a time, apparently she had some rival in the underdark giving trouble.
It is also possible that there was another reason for her absence
Derristan Berly, the then Marshal, sent one of his men – Itzal Mayer to negotiate with her in the Shadover Tradepost. He made a deal with her – to allow her to feed on him in return for staying away from Guldorand.
The scope of this decisions isn’t entirely known – whether she continued to feed on him, whether she somehow enthralled him (though no signs of it were found in medical examinations) however – for whatever reason she kept her side of the bartain and stayed away from Guldorand – at least for a time.
Her next encounter with Gwenllian was after she attacked a winged aasimar by the name of Zaphiel She approached him in guide and forced him to swallow something. A small stone enchanted to be a conduit for fiendish life-energy directly into his body – which played havoc with his aasimar biology. Attempts were taken to remove it, but all unsuccessful. It seemed the only way to destroy it was to kill the devil it was linked to.
The next time Gwen ran into Adelyn, she encountered a middle aged woman in shabby cloths who had come from Skaljard in the Guldorand bank, who asked her to take her to Westcliff. Fortunately her then fiance, one Tove – a paladin, came in and recognised Adelyn. There was a chase and Tove managed to pin Adelyn and, shortsword at her throat, demanded a pact to see Zaphiel cured of the issue.
Adelyn readily agreed, and revealed where they’d find the devil linked to it, but that they’d need her help to do this.
She tried to flee again, but was cut down for her efforts by Tove. She had revealed some details about the devil, and how the sword of Benwick and stonehold was tied to it.
For Adelyn conspired for Zaphiel to come into possession of a false Sword of Benwick, that he became inordinately attached to. Besides looking the part it was not magical.
After some research it was deemed that that she was trying to make a situation where Gwen/Tove would need her assistance to call a devil that was bound to a dormant gate at old Stonehold. And this had been her plan for some time.
The idea was that her masters wished to see this fiend dead. And also that it’s death would effectively give her masters control over some form of gate in Stonehold.
To do this, Adelyn would also have to be ‘sacrificed at Stonehold by someone acting in the name of good.’
this was the crux of her plan with Zaphiel – trying to convince him he was an old hero of Benwick on a crusade against the Banites of Stronehold. Get him to go there, kill the devil for her, then kill her in the name of ‘good’
After they captured her, her plan shifted. She would get them to kill the devil, then someone in the mob to kill her in the aftermath.
Tove and Gwen worked out a plan. Kill the devil as she wished – then rather than kill her just capture Adelyn. Put her in enchanted chains and seal her in a casket, then seal the casket in a protected vault within the crypt of the knight where she could not die for a while.
Everything went to plan, but because no one could slay her – (they’d been talked down from it) she managed to escape – sacrificing one of her many thralls in the process.
She went dark for a bit. Came out again but didn’t do much.
During year 170 operated out of Sencliff under the name ‘Siren’
Update:
UPDATE- Years 181-183
During Year 181 was witnessed in Cordor Sewers – see attached witness statement. [Wiki Editor Note: Attachment not provided]
During year 181 was witnessed also serving in the Cloven Hoof.
In year 182 – Was seen in Andunor, working with or for Artharg- a banite. Attempted to trap the paladin Valasco with some infernal runes during his enslavement -was unsuccessful. Rumours abound she was in some sort of coven with Francesca and Laverne. She also released another historical book in this time.
During approximately Year 183 she rose to prominence again, with the taking of the slave, and thrall Jhi Kir-Khala, a female half elven blade dancer. Cordor initially attempted to aid Jhi regain her freedom and release her bonds from Adelyn, but the enthralment proved too much, and she was let loose/escaped.
Jhi was seen several other times, both in Guldorand and Cordor, and apparently befriended an elf by the name of Syclya.
Not long after, Syclya also went into the underdark and (apparently of her own volition) took the slave collar, becoming enslaved to Adelyn Bell’rose.
There then followed a collection of interpersonal drama, revolving around romance, accusations of romance, attacks and so forth that is difficult to disentangle.
What is known is that Jhi attempted to coerce Timmothy Pondhopper into procuring a large amount of humanoid blood, preserved. Timmothy refused to do that, and because of this Jhi and Syclya threatened Guldorand citizens with death, seeking other ways to gather the blood.
These actions, combined with the prior assaults on a man named Aeden, resulted in them becoming exiled from Guldorand, and pariahed from many other places, wanted throughout the surface.
Meanwhile, Adelyn had taken another slave in the underdark, the famed drow Saslea Xun’viir. The exact details of how this occurred are unknown, but it caused fury amongst the Drow community, that one of their own, let alone such a notorious warrior, should be collared.
Adelyn – who had already been facing some pressure due to the rash actions of her Slaves (Syclya having threatened the son of a powerful Drow maiden of the underdark) soon found herself with bounty of three hundred thousand gold upon her head. It seems during this time she sought refuse in Sibiyad (as of the writing of this she resides in the Menzil).
Around the end of the second month of 185 she, along with her two thralls, were encountered in the Spires by a group of Cordorians. She and her thralls were defeated there, the thralls allowed to leave but she herself was taken captive and dragged to Cordor Jail where she faced (admittedly with not much success) questioning.
Negotiations took place between Cordor and several members from the underdark (lead by the slave Saslea) to have her placed in Underdark custody, so that she might fight Saslea to the death, and that Saslea might thus regain her honour- or some such.
Cordor eventually traded Adelyn in for an agreement from Saslea and her colleagues that the underdark would refrain from raiding the surface for a period of six months, and that Adelyn would be declared Pariah at the Devils Table and hunted by them. This agreement caused much discord amongst the districts – with apparently Sharps, Devil’s Table and the Arcarnum all entering a state of war over it, with Saslae Xun’viir and John Salamander having already been defeated.
As for the fate of Adelyn, she was apparently killed shortly after her return to the underdark. However, it is theorized she may still return as she is soulbound to her coffin, currently in a maze in the Erudite Arcarnum.
Update Years – 183-187
Adelyn’s appearance has been sporadic, with no major incidents to speak of. Some notes however:
*She wrote and publishes several more books, including one about Fey crossings on Arelith. Her full interest in these is unknown.
*Syclya is gone but Jhi Belle’rose (as she is now known) remains. She has been permanently altered by her time as a thrall to Adelyn and is deep in Vampire delusion. She is no longer enthralled to Adelyn, and is able to act independently but is certainly still loyal to her. See the Dossier on Jhi for more information.
*She bound the mage Arkhan Crestflam to her sway. A fellow who suffered from varying complex magical and soul based maladies, he fell in love with Belle’rose and followed her lead for a time. However, like the majority of her servants, when she became more absent he finally sought healing at the hands of the Arcane Tower. It seems he is now somewhat more sane, though not entirely recovered. His stance towards Adelyn is not yet known.
*An attempt was made to enthral and send a woman by the name of Aerial after myself and others, as a sort of assassin. Areal fought this compulsion and was cured of her enthralment by the Arcane Tower. It did not last long. This was done in part I believe, merely to get my attention.
*She was made a Pariah, and then exiled, from the settlement of Sibayad for various crimes. I have attached a copy of her exile notice for study. [Wiki Editor Note: Attachment not provided]
