The King's Proclamation & the Admiral's Message
Kinsmen and Citizens,
Our family was hosted by the royal court when ill news arrived; Waterdeep has formally declared war upon my home, Amn. The city gathered to hear the King's proclamation in the Square. These are his words;
"Lords, Ladies, Fair Adventurers of Cordor, and those of elsewhere. I come to you with a gloomy proclamation.
It is to my sorrow that I must bare the news of war, between the nations of Amn, and Waterdeep. Whilst this war will bring turbulence to our waters, and beyond - I wish it known that it is not my desire to see such turbulence come to our streets.
Though Cordor does harbour the Amnian vessels, and though we call Amn our friend - it is not my desire to see our small nation dragged into this, and less so to see us dragged into a conflict with Guldorand, which harbours the Waterdhavian fleet.
If Guldorand feels differently - and I do not believe, then of course we shall meet their blades, like for like! But for now, I would ask you all to work to keep peace on the island.
Of the isle, if any here wish to aid the war effort on behalf of Amn, you have my blessing. If any here wish to fight for Waterdeep, then... well that's your own affair. But do your best to keep Cordor, and Guldorand, out of conflict!
There will be dark times ahead, I fear. But I have faith that we will endure. Not just by the steel in our bellies, and the strength of our arms... but by the ingenuity of our minds, the kindness of our souls, the openness of our hearts.
Cordor will prevail. Thank you."
After his proclamation, the King and his Cavalry made to return to the Palace. The Admiral Talazar took his place, and made his own address to the Crowd on behalf of the Amnian armada;
"Whereas the King gives credence to every man or woman to side whichever way their heart, or blood guides them... I must give a warning.
Those who fight for Waterdeep, face the finest fleet of ships on water... know this. Those who fight for Amn, support nothing... but the process of peace.
To good business, and whatever peace we find."
