Cordor Tradesfolk Eager for Reform After Ministry Appointment

The Arelith Observer

by Childenessa Ulthbane

Cordor's market regulars are eager for reforms following the appointment of a new Minister of Trade, according to recent canvassing by the Observer.

Chancellor Elspeth Derlson appointed Rory Tate as the new Minister earlier this month, during an announcement posted to the public noticeboard in Cordors Government Square. Better known by his franchise "Tate Merchandising," Tate described the Ministry's role as "ensuring Cordors markets are competitive and able to provide the goods sought by its people."

During his interview with the Observer, he said one of his first orders of business was to be a "voluntary registry of tradesfolk interested in advertising their services which would enable craftsfolk who do not see regular business to see more attention." Much of his policy is still under development, he told the Observer.

Ash Faldow, Oathkeeper of an organization that assists newcomers to the Isle called "the Open Hand," said the proposed board would ameliorate "daily" requests from new arrivals to connect with skilled tradesfolk. "Display the list promptly and have craftsmen rank themselves  and it would affect [all residents] positively."

Though excited by the proposal, Faldow also shared some concerns about the state of Cordors market. "The [Open Hand]s charity campaign has seen 1000 items delivered to new arrivals because they can't find reasonably priced alternatives to the randomly enchanted items that every adventurer encounters. I'd institute a cap on their price."

Faldow likewise mentioned Cordors surplus of coal and shortages of "gold, silver, and hardwood" which he would like to see corrected. "If the city buys for a coin less than it sells for, thats income."

Minister Tate concluded his interview with us by stating that "I will do my utmost to serve fairly, honourably, and with an even hand in the role that I have been entrusted to."

Evicted Knights in Good Spirits

The Order of the White Stag remain in good spirits after their recent eviction, said their Second Knight, Sir Falco Whisperwill, in an interview with the Observer. "We are sad to have lost a home, but to us the people come first and we will continue to do what we have always done."

The Order is made up of individuals who "share the goal of protecting the innocent and goodly people of Arelith," said Whisperwill.

Formerly headquartered in Castle Darrowdeep and operating under the name "Darrowdeep Family," the Order has had to adjust quickly following Cordor's successful bid for the keep. "We cannot respond as fast as we usually could to threats. But Brogendenstein supports us like an ally would. We have a base to work from," said Whisperwill.

Lady Elspeth Derlson, Chancellor of Cordor, said the Keep was acquired to "extend the Pax Cordoria and prevent criminals from escaping judgement" in an interview with the Observer. She further stated the City was aware Myon had placed a bid. "Had Cordor not intervened, the castle would now belong to Myon."

The Orders disposition towards Cordor is still amicable, according to Whisperhill. "We hope Cordor will be able to protect their expanded Pax Cordoria. "

The Order enlists anyone whose values align with their goal, including "scholars, scouts, and caretakers," and would accept selfless donations to aid during the transition, said Whisperhill. Benefactors interested in assisting with the Orders requartering should contact Sir Falco Whisperwill or Lord Kaelavin Dwindarre to discuss arrangements.

Seven Massacred In Trade Route Murder

The Arelith Observer

by Childenessa Ulthbane

Passersby discovered seven bodies in various states of egregious mutilation shortly after midday on the 7 Ches, the Observer has learned.

Field reports obtained by the Observer from a Dregan "the Green," confirmed to be the first witness to the scene, indicate that seven victims were found strewn across the Traders Route between the Bendir Dale and the City of Cordor.  The report further described several acts of intentional damage to the victims remains.

An Examiner for the Observer noted the incident's aftermath, finding viscera and stains along the roadside west of the vacant road and fort south of the Dale. One body was described as "kneeling...  probably pleading" by Maya Ashald, a passerby and second on scene.

During a briefing of the incident with the Observer, Lady Elspeth Derlson, Chancellor of Cordor, said that the region in which the victims were discovered falls under the territory acquired by the City after their successful bid for Castle Darrowdeep, close to the new border between the City and the Bendir Dale.

Lady Derlson also said the victims wealth was "still on their [remains]."

"My heart goes out to the families of those lost," said Meriam Fuzzypaw, described by residents of the Dale as a respected authority in the absence of an elected mayor. "The collective forces of the Accords were on the scene. This nasty monster will have its comeuppance."

When asked what she wants the People of Cordor to know, Lady Derlson said she "would ask the People to maintain their calm. This incident will be handled with the care it deserves, and has the attention of the Accords."

The victim's identities are, as of press time, still unknown.
