Tenets of Loyal Fury

This book has been transcribed by Lilian Williams in AR 173. The original author was Leonard Thomas Banquo.

---------------------

[At the forefront of this book is a small passage,]

"I have seen my share of death, both honourable and despicable.
I know of war's brutality; of its ability to bring out the best and worst in men.
This is an unforgiving Isle within a plane damned on creation to be the place where good and evil clash eternally, and in the pits of sentient souls there is still bile churning.
But the moment we turn away, the moment we close an eye, the moment we ignore darkness to see only light, we might as well take a blade to our own throats.
For the light of our faith is not meant to blind us; it is meant to warm our backs as we descend through the darkness.
It steels our grit, sets chants of Divine Righteousness to our tongues, and fills our armor and hearts with the courage to press on.
Eyes ever facing forward."

-L.T.Banquo

Torm, often referred to as the Loyal Fury, is the primary deity of the Triad focused on loyalty, duty, honor, and virtue. Knights and warriors alike often find value in His teachings to not only keep a calm demeanor in their day-to-day affairs, but also to assist themselves in containing or using their emotions in the heat of battle.

I: Rage
Rage is the blindness that encompasses the mind. When rage takes hold, all other emotions love, compassion, mercy, duty, and honorare shoved aside until the bloodlust is fulfilled. Rage is seen as a detriment to warriors of a cause due to this blindness. Knights who succumb to rage lose track of their tenets and bring only destruction, creating nothing.

II: Fury
Fury is the containment of rage, and its implementation for specific uses. It is anger, but without blindness. Fury, unlike rage, is not all consuming but rather directed, focused anger that can act as a driving motivator. A Knight uses the fury produced from the helpless in distress to motivate themselves internally to work through any problem. In the field of battle, fury is directed at an enemy to produce a zeal that allows the warrior to ignore the pain of wounds and fight harder than normal.

III: Fear
Fear is blinding paranoia. It seeps into the mind via small doubts, which grow until they consume all thought. It, like rage, is blinding and will cast aside all other senses of duty, leaving its victim in a state of indecision and paralysis. Knights who allow fear to seep into their minds unabated will turn tail and flee from their duties.

IV: Confidence
Confidence is the control of fear. When fear exposes doubts, confidence allows the mind to dismiss these doubts in favor of one's physical and mental abilities. A Knight uses their confidence to reassure others and bolster the morale of those about them, as well as to keep their mind focused upon their tenets and duties.

V: Treason
Treason is the abandonment of duty. It stems from a vice that consumes the mind, causing one to stray from an oath for which they have given their word or bond. Knights who commit treason have performed such heinous actions, or failed to perform duties, for which they have given their oath and creed to uphold.

VI: Loyalty
Loyalty is honesty in upholding one's duties. It is the trust that a task will be completed to the fullest ability when one gives their word for such, and that they will not stray from their path. A Knight who is loyal has demonstrated that their word can be trusted, and that their actions are true to their tenets.
