Sibayad Citizen's Update 4
Greetings to those who walk the sands,
As part of our continued effort to keep the citizens and friends of Sibayad informed, here are the latest updates regarding development of our desert haven - with an interview from one of Sibayad's own included.
---
Sailing Update:
Sibayad's fleet continues its ventures across the archipelago. We now set sail three times every three weeks (up from two) - speak with our captains if you seek details on our sailing times, or better, to join our Merchant Marines. New faces are always welcome aboard.
Upcoming Event:
The Sibayadi Fishing Competition approaches. Line your hooks and prepare your bait, because prizes await! Full details will be posted soon.
Interview Segment:
This update features a short interview with one of Sibayad's own citizens - Iskandar, an up and coming tradesman who has played the market to become impressively wealthy in a short time!
---
Vestelle: You've not been in Sibayad for long, yet already your stall has become a notable success. Could you tell me a little about your background, and what first drew you to trade here?
Iskandar: I guess I was always a driven man, moving from one place to the next with nothing more than the coat on my back. A lot of people were interested in what I possessed even before I came to Sibayad, so you could say I had followers for a long time.
Vestelle: And what is it about Sibayad that made you think this was the place to establish yourself?
Iskandar: A chance encounter brought me here - and it turned out to be the right choice.
Vestelle: I understand you took some of the Lord Vizier's advice early on. What guidance did you take to heart, and how did it shape the way you run your business?
Iskandar: Indeed, I did! At first, my business wasn't doing too well. Our wise and observant Vizier noticed and told me to sell resources desired by crafters. He gave me guidance on pricing, and before I knew it, I had made my first hundred thousand coins from selling timber and coal! Then three hundred, five hundred - now seven hundred thousand.
Vestelle: Impressive in so short a time. But no success comes without its difficulties. What would you say have been your greatest challenges while running your shop, and how did you manage them?
Iskandar: The greatest struggle was keeping golden ingots stocked, because they sell so fast! I managed it by creating an ore purchase scheme and advertising it everywhere. Soon, people started coming to me with gold, silver, and iron. The thing basically runs itself now - though we still need coal!
Vestelle: Speaking of advertising, you've spoken of promoting your scheme widely. On that note, how important would you say Sibayad itself has been in supporting your trade?
Iskandar: Immeasurably! Our benevolent Vizier himself would offload the ores he couldn't store elsewhere on me! Sibayad also has a busy industrial side that hungers immensely. People are always buying!
Vestelle: We've spoken a little of the past, and of the present. What of the future?
Iskandar: I'm working on ventures involving rare ores, explosive weaponry, and bold hunting. The Sibayadi market is as hungry for adamantine as any other, and I mean to see it fed.
Vestelle: To round this off = for those who haven't yet visited your stall, what sets your business apart? Why should it be their next stop?
Iskandar: Good luck finding brass gears or glass at any other shop on the archipelago. That, or golden ingots priced under three thousand each! My stock is unique - it is for crafters, by a crafter.
Many thanks to Iskandar for the interesting interview! I do encourage taking a look at his stall - it is found in the Merchant League.
More inteviews of this nature will follow in future updates.
