Pillars of Stone

From Encyclopedia Arelithica 3.0

The first half of this column depicts a small contingency of dwarves leading a larger group of men, elves, hin, and even an orc in a march against the gates of Brogendenstein. There, four dwarves stand with shields locked against the invading force.

Upon the reverse side, the relief shows the four defenders victorious over the subdued force. Three of them are carrying traitors towards the cliffside. The fourth defender is dusting its hands as his burden sails over the edge towards the Arelith forest.

Carved deep into the capital of the pillar, the following runes translate into common: "A dwarf shall not ever act against kin by aiding or using the aid of non-dwarven creatures."

Pillar of Law: Health

The forward half of this pillar depicts a single dwarf lying in its private bedchambers. The bed itself is marked with a skull on the headboard and footboard. The dwarf's personal keg has a similar skull marking upon it.

The back of the column is separated from the front by a carving of a door-frame with the label "vacation." Outside the lone, ailing dwarf's room are a number of dwarves, each carrying out their own business, and each with a small bottle labelled "cure."

Carved deep into the capital of the pillar, the following runes translate into common: "A dwarf shall not hide personal injury or illness from others within its clan."
