Obituary: Scilth Sarcro
On the night of the 14th of Eleint, 188 AR, Erudite Scilth Sarcro died while activating an experimental githzerai weapon.
Her use of the device was against her given orders, and her death was immediately ordered, even as the device itself appeared to destroy her brain. I cannot know her reasons for activating the device: if she were a servant of the illithid Enemy, or if she knew something we of the Erudite Arcanum did not. The effect was clear. The Conclave of S'ri'chal's ship, its elder brain, and all illithid aboard fell victim to the githzerai trap. They flew the ship that had been floating above the Isle of Arelith directly into the sun and were completely destroyed.
I hope this was Scilth's objective and that she had chosen to make this sacrifice for the good of Andunor. In life, Scilth was a scholar with a particular interest in the illithid and their society. She was also a talented necromancer and an amateur practitioner of the craft of humour. Her published work on the society of the local hive survives her in the halls of the Arcanum. She possessed a peculiar sense of humour that I do not think her surviving colleagues will soon forget.
Though Scilth was once a servant of a god above, she had long ago abandoned her faith. To my knowledge, she gave breath to no divine in life. I pray that she lived with sufficient Purpose to find a place in the hereafter and be spared the Wall. Her remains shall be buried according to the common rites of the End.
In the name of the Reaper, Jergal.
One life closer to the End.
*A black wax seal with the skull and scroll of Jergal was affixed to the page.*
