NEWS FROM THE FRONT! BATTLE AT GULF OF CORDELL!

We bring news that two days ago that the Lords' Alliance and Amn clashed at sea just west of the Green Sisters isles just east of Maztica.

The Amnian flotilla of three galleons and three frigates that sailed from Helmsport to intercept the Lords' Alliance fleet of seven ships was initially successful until a Waterdhavian fleet from the west, out of New Waterdeep, met up with the fighting ships in what could be seen as a masterful trap.

The Amnians, under Commodore Raffera, was forced to withdraw their ships back to Helmsport and reports from the colonial capital of New Amn reports that at least a galleon and a two frigates sunk, two of them at port. Loss of crew is unknown but some suggest it is in the hundreds.

The Lords' Alliance fleet with escort of Waterdhavian ships continued their way to New Waterdeep unhindered. This might be the first battle reported in this war, and some in Helmsport are worrying what this reinforcement of ships in colonial Waterdeep means for New Amn.
