Laberia (Painting)

From Encyclopedia Arelithica 3.0

A gnomish female with short, bob cut dark hair, her features are blunt and plane, of no great beauty. She is dressed in dark black trousers, a heavy breastplate and a white shirt. Her skin is pail, and the faintest hint of fangs protrude beneath her grimly set lips.

She is depicted sitting upon a dark stone throne of netherese style, her head in one hand, the other rests in her lap. At her feet lie the remains of countless gnomes and humans, scattered about in a carpet of death. In both her hands, the gnome holds heavy iron chains, which fall limply and intertwine with the skulls and bones on the ground.

The background is that of simple darkness, encroaching upon the seated figure ominously, as if ready at any time to swallow.

Her expression is thoughtful and melancholic, but there is a hint of seething rage behind her brown-red eyes, of hatred, of malice. The creature seems at once dominating and terrifying, and yet also bound, chained, and sad. A creature who is at once tyrant and slave, and hates both with equal passion, tainted and defiled by the past, a seething, pain filled hatred that seeps out from the painting, and chills the viewer.

At the bottom right of the picture, very small, is a tiny black rams head, in profile, with ‘A.S.’ beneath it.
