Colacus Quickfoot was an Arelith native raised by a clerk of the Speedy Messenger Service. Prior to Colacus, the Speedy Messengers had very few permanent employees, instead relying on primarily on volunteers. Speedies were limited to the city of Cordor, and to citizens with a fixed business address. Parcel size was typically not an issue, with the service often delivering large packages to clientele.
Colacus spent his teenage years training as a monk. When he returned to Cordor, he decided to apply his training to his work, and started his own branch of the Speedy Messengers. Using his endurance and breath training, Colacus was able to cover vast distances with very few breaks. This allowed him to expand the messenger's network beyond the city of Cordor. However, parcels needed to be severely limited in size. Only short, written messages could be relayed.
Originally, Colacus was the only member of this new branch of the Messengers. But as he retired, he began training a younger generation of hin who would eventually fill up the ranks of the Messenger Depot.
