A Letter to Cordor - About the Battle
Over the next few days, you'll probably hear a lot of rumors about what happened in Minmir this trine. I want to take a moment to address it personally, and lay out everything that occurred as far as I am aware.
On the First of Mirtul, we received a wisp alerting us to a gathering force of Warborn from the Sharps which was headed toward the Crypts. A force was gathered to defend, but then we received a report that the Andunorians were attacking the Arcane Tower. Shortly after, we received news that Minister of Faith, Elianor Mercer, had been captured. We were challenged by the vampire Rathmar Vhett to meet them in Minmir, near Nexus.
Our force gathered and met the Andunorians entrenched and defending a chokepoint. The group encountered was made up of a force of approximately fifteen. It was made up of various Andunorians, not just the Warborn. House Briz'zek was also prominent. The fight was brutal, and seven people were captured in the aftermath. Cordor was routed, and a retreat was called.
We gathered with a number of allies outside the Arcane Tower. We received notification that several of the routed had gathered in the Shadovar Trade Post. We met with the Lady Vice Chancellor Caroline Cremont and, under her command, we coordinated with our allies from Myth Myon to see what forces remained and figure out who was lost.
Attempts were made to pull people through the leylines. As these attempts were being made, we realized that the Lady Chancellor was among those who had been captured. Lady Cremont made the decision to return to Cordor while attempts to pull the captured to safety persisted. In Cordor, we received word that the captives had all been brought below, to the prisons. We gave word to gather in Cordor, and forces from Myon, Cordor, and the Arcane Tower gathered to plan.
During this time, a number of people made attempts to help. To protect their identities, they will not be named here, nor will their specific actions be named - but know that your efforts for Cordor and Her citizens were seen and noticed by myself and the Lady Vice. You all have our gratitude and our recognition.
We received a notice from the matron of House Briz'zek that they would be in the Shadovar Trade Post to negotiate. After the Lady Chancellor negotiated in shackles, we were offered all of the Cordorian hostages for a total of 500,000 gold. Lady Cremont made the decision to fund their release from her private coffers. Most who were taken by the Andunorians, save for Arayli Svi who was enslaved, were safely released. We have confirmed that Arayli is safe, though for the time being, her collar remains.
Regrettably, the Lady Chancellor was only in a position to save Cordorians. Two others were captured who were not from Cordor: one from Myon, and one from the Order of Ascension. The Myonian representative managed to escape, but to our knowledge, the Paladin is still in their clutches.
Cordor did, indeed, suffer a defeat. Many people are hurting, angry, and discouraged. But rest assured - Cordor prevails. They may rout us, they may taunt us, but they cannot break us. This is a time to mend and grow, and when the time comes to prove ourselves, we will be ready. Stand with your friends. Support your loved ones. It is through unity, resolve, and dedication that Cordor will pull through.
I suggest you all take a moment to recover. Find your joy, and spread love and strength rather than despair. Focus on growth and recovery. The greatest defiance we can show them is thriving in the face of defeat.
We stand together.
A wax stamp at the bottom of the document bears the Cordorian Eagle, wings outstretched in flight, backed by a mighty aegis.
