Report on Chancellor's Death

A source from the Illamatri by the name of Sly gave us information on the attack and murder of the Chancellor. Reason the information came from her is because she was not only witness to the events, but also the one who tried to revive the Chancellor.

So apperantly 3 Black Lash entered Cordor, very stealthy and in the middle of the night. They slew the Chancellor and many other in the process, leaving many wounded. It is suspected the reason for the attack is tied to a T'rissolin Xel'vraxa. Whether she was the one who may have orchestrated it, which is doubtful because of reputation below, or because of said reputation and the millions of coin bounty on her head, is speculation at best. The 3 attackers fled via the Drow ship Butcher.

According to Sly, there was great numers aboard the ship, and before a responce or attack could have been exicuted, the ship and Drow had fled. Sly tried her best to contact, summon, and raise the Chancellor. No success was met.  Cordor is now under the rule of Vice-Chancellor Valros Rivorndir until a new pne can be appointed. As for the Illamatri, Sly said that blood will be payed with blood. An attack below seems eminate.

Cordor Chancellor Candidates

From the board I have found three candidates who have posted about running so far.

The first is Zenryrs, I found quite a bit of information about him from the boards as I was investigating thinking he was the half-orc selling hin pie. Zenyrys in his own words is a former slave who has no other desire than to help the common man. He claims not to be an agent of andunor or the Black lash. He seems to have problems ith the Coronal of Myon who he says threatened to have him killed for reporting the assault of a slave woman. Zenrys also has an issue with Gaderel who has written a post about him. Gaderel has issued a ?canonical penalty? against Zenyrys, he accuses him of spying for the Black Lash and Andunor and gives him two options of either repent or die.

As for his campaign, he claims to be wanting to assist the people of Cordor and says he will hire chancellors who will be around, which he claims the Rivorndirs are not. He also mentions being anti-corruption.

Next is Captain Aloysious Valoheim, the gnome captain of the navy. He has declared his intent to run, he has not however posted his manifesto, which he says he will do in a few days. I did overhear some folk say that they expect him to do well in the election.

Finally is Rolf Marr, who I believe works with the Rivorndirs. He has posted his entire manifesto on the board which mostly states that Cordor is doing fine under the current government but mentions changes he will make if he is elected.

The strangest part is that he posted a disclaimer at the top declaring himself to be a protest vote and telling people not to vote for him.

Diplomatic report - Sili Aseph

Firstly I spoke with Myzzrin Brightburst who gave her side of what happened.

due to constant harassment of the family and spilling of blood, Nathaniel and Aigyr insulted him resulting in Aigyr being kicked out of cordor before the official ban as well as them being all charged with defamation, provocation and failure to obey orders she claims no crimes wereCommited and that Jach is bending the law.

Sabre was not on the island when this happened, however upon her return to the island and learning of the banishment, she headed to Cordor to speak with Jach about it. Sabre refused to leave until Jach spoke with her and refused to accept banishment, which is when Jach murdered her outside of the Nomad.

After the backlash, Jach made an adjustment to the punishment and the banishment was lifted on Myzzrins mother, husband and daughter. Myzzrin says that she has been charged with espionage and has no option to pay to revoke her banishment unlike Nathaniel and Aigyr and that she has to appeal to the Cordor justice system.

Next I spoke with the mayor of Bendir and asked if they have an official stance on what had happened. She says that she has yet to be fully informed and therefore cannot take a stance yet, she told me that she sent her diplomat Chirper on a similar task to me and mentioned I should contact him and trade details. If anything changes, she says she will let me know.

Finally I spoke with Jach. He told me that he could not speak for Cordor but as long as Nathaniel did not enter the pax "he would not have to kill him".

He told me that Myzz, Nate and Aigyr are all PNG but he has little concern with them as long as they do not endanger the city further. Nate and Aigyr have less than one month to pay their fines and Myzz has been made PNG for two months. He would not tell me what crimes they commited but says they've been charged according to Cordorian law.

He also stated that the Rivorndirs would agree with him and he has no interest in war.

Barracks Access Elindros Ama'Alar

Elindros Ama'Alar is a capable sailor who has offered his services to Brogendenstein. I have given him barracks access for the sole purpose of him being able to access the Ironhelm as needed. This is an important step in our battle against the Butcher of Andunor.

For those unaware, Elindros has ties to the Aegis faction of Myon and speaks regularly with the Coronal. Despite differences in the past, I am hopeful this will prove a bettering of relations with Myon alongside the stated mission.Giving access to a citizen not of Brogendenstein does of course pose a security risk, but given our information sharing agreement already in place with Myon, I believe the risk to be minimal. He has also given me his word to respect and uphold the security of the barracks.

Notice of Exile: Dekkr

Dekkr was already on probation due to his murder on Turin Silver-Wind. At the time I had to reduce his sentence due to the unlawful revenge killing of Dekkr in response to the unlawful killing of Turin. This all happened after Dekkr's provocation of a Half Orc, which can be read about in his file.

I received a report on his antagonising of Sir Berenor and provoking him after I had already made it clear he was on his final warning. He had to this day failed to repay his debt to the city and broken further laws as a Pariah.

I informed Dekkr of his exile for a period of six months. He was about to leave when he turned and decided to attack me. At this point Raewynn, minister Kerenza and Chancellor Ginny had just left the barracks to witness his attack on me. He failed to kill me, and a chase ensued to catch him.

Unfortunately, he escaped our grasp, but he is now also guilty of assault upon a Cordor official. Dekkr has been informed of his exile status face to face already, this will only add to his charges and offences.

Dekkr is dangerous and easy to offend. He /will/ jump to violence at minimal provocation.

Signed,
Justiciar of Cordor

Friendly Harper Report 1375 DR, War is brewing

Dear people of Arelith,

War may break out between surface settlements and Aundunor, the trade city of Underdark in the region.

We all rejoiced when Reavers crumbled with the death of their main villain, Theodor H., sadly, it seems Konstantin's brother might have the last laugh.

With the speaker of fortunes, a planar being of questionable intent, Cordor introduced mistrust across settlements and those put at risk by the grave incident of true name dealings, resulting in the government being disbanded by Providence.

Amongst the chaos, Konstantin H. rose to power supported by Cordorian nobility and Drow house Xel'vraxa.

T'rissolin Xel'vraxa, the matron of the said house, had been cast away for her devotion to Shar and machinations. She found safe haven under Konstantin's wings, and his devotion to destroying her enemies, and returning her to rule Underdark.

It is unknown to us if it was her influence which finally broke Konstantin H., or Paush'an demonic madness, one which caused him to murder his wife years past, still burning in his chest - as it might have manifested in removing many of Gauntlet away from Cordor.

The result is a spiral of hate and escalation of conflict. Jach S., Cordorian general, and Konstantin H. sponsored a band of mercenaries from Guldorand who came together under the banner of slave liberation and Ilmater's faith to destroy Black Lash, Aundunorian group which threw T'rissolin X. away.

Series of brutal attacks followed, killing drow, slaves, civilians alike, plundering goods, and trying their best to provoke Aundunor and its inhabitants to retribute across Arelith. It did not happen.

And in turn, Konstantin H. chose to become a martyr, seemingly giving away his life to protect Cordor, knowing nothing motivates the people to arms more than sacrifice and injustice.

Will the Rivorndir family, Myon black archers, and Guldorandian mercenaries of Ilmater attack Aundunor in the act of revenge?

Will the war break out?

Murder of Chancellor Konstantin of Cordor

I am told the Chancellor has been killed by the forces of Andunor. I am not any clearer than that on the details, but I ask if possible we follow this matter up and gather what we can about what occurred. There should be a public notice in Cordor about the incident.

Intelligence for Lord Thane Falgrim Vintergard

Lord Thane,

In execution of your former order I've encountered Merklynn Steelshadow, one who threatened me previous but due to old acquaintence before oaths, apologized and seems to still think me kin despite knowing I am a Paladin.

He has told me my nature is circulating below and harm will come to me if I venture forth. But he also offered intelligence, he is newly minted Tyrant of the Sharps and there is much I can share on matters below with you if you desire.

The nature of relationship is a willing informant, though I do not trust he would inform but only in his own interest, he claims having proof of fell summoning by Hawkwinters, and other matters.

If this is a path you wish me to pursue on your behalf, to collect information from him or other, I would do so in your will. If not, I can abandon connection and not head below. I will follow your command regardless.

With honour, servant of the Lord of Twin-Axes,

Execution of Lawful Order by Lord Thane Falgrim Vintergard

M'lord Thane an' Sonnlinor,

As commanded, I have identified all key Duergar operating in Andunor today. These are matters of public record and hold no deception in their gathering, which would be intolerable to my Lord Clangeddin Silverbeard.

See names grouped by Clan below:

Clan Ironthew-
1. Raegar Ironthew- Laird-Commander
2. Rugnar Ironthew- Lieutenant (Not highly active)
3. Merklynn Steelshadow- Lieutenant and newly minted Tyrant of the Sharps.

Clan Ironcrown-
Dargok- (Only active identified)

Unidentified Clan-
1. Ovvar Gravelgut- Reportedly allied to Drow and in conflict with the Sharps and exiled theirin
2. Telryn- Was told a druid Duergar, but not verified.
3. Malus- Was told another Duergar, but not verified.

Gracklstug Legion-
A division has been bivouaced in Greyport for some time. They move materials from Gracklstugh to Andunor through a well fortified and maintained trade-tunnel.

This information has been gathered from the boards and from informants who know my nature as a Paladin and offer it freely. I would add further to this report as there are many threats below, and much work that can be done to defend lands above and progress prosperity of the Halls and glory of the Morndinsamman.

Request for clemency: Dracnull Leadteeth

I, Saslae Xun'viir of House Xun'viir, and though the Shield Dwarves of Brogenstein have always been, and remain my enemies ... I wish to request clemency for a deceased Deep Gnome who paid the price for unpopular political views and lived out his life in banishment beyond The Grotto.

His only wish in the near decade that I knew him was to return to Andunor ... and in the thirty years of my absence, he passed away and was burried on a small island off the archepello. He is not and was never Andunorian ... and? Having lived his life in exile, he paid the price demanded of him for the belief that the Svirfniblin Grotto should rule itself. He died, far from his people and his family.. and because he has paid that price, I would like to request that he be allowed to be interned in the community graveyard in his homeland.

In return for this, I am prepared to offer one similar concession or consideration in the future. He had a difference of opinion: He was not a warrior, or slayer, nor raider. While I understand this is an unusual request from a drow ... and I assure you, given how many of eachother's friends that your thane Falgrim Vintergaard and I have slain ... how many kin: I have neither forgiven, nor forgotten the death of my friend whenI met him, so long ago ... the same cycle he took my Pure Zardizik from me -- all long before I ever joined House Xun'viir.

This is simply a matter of respect, for an individual I found to be principled, and who I always appreciated. If you wish to question me on this matter, I will make myself available at a neutral location.

I give this message to a Deep Gnome inside The Grotto, which I have long held the power to enter at will ... I have asked deep gnomes many times for this, but my requests have gone unanswered, and thus? I made the journey directly, and harmed no gnomes, dwarves or anyone else to hand deliver this message.

P.S. Good Sailing, saving the ship.

Respectfully, The Port Authority of Andunor's Greyport,

Announcement of Candidacy: Oak Vintergard

Long have i served these Golden Halls under Thane Falgrim. I recognise, as we all do, the mark he will leave behind. Yet, he has faith, as I do, that Brogendenstein will always thrive so long as we continue our march.

To this end, I have spoken with the Thane and Ulstevaurd of my intention to stand as Regent of the Dominion of Brogendenstein. This being the first step in the long road the Thanedom.

Thane Falgrim has not only given me his blessing but done me the honour of initiation into Clan Vintergard. I ask only that you place in me the same trust as our Thane.

Kinsmen, allow me this honour. To lead us in this march.

Much will be asked of a future Thane. This task ahead I cannot accomplish on my own. I ask all kin approach me with their views and hopes for the future.

Thank you, Brogendenstein.

By the grace of the citizens of the Dominion of Brogendenstein, I have been duly elected as Regent.

I thank you all for your support and stand committed to the values and words I have espoused during this campaign.

In Brogendenstein, the circumstances of our birth are not important. These Halls are the result of the collective blood and sweat we have all shed in support of them.

We pay no heed to those who believe our Home is somehow theirs by divine right. We pay no mind to those who haven?t the courage to put their name to their own words. If you wish to represent our people, you must earn that right through your actions - not a few days of visitation.

There is much work to be done and I shall concern myself with that, going forward.

Investigation into Avalri Delocke & Theodor Helbrecht

Kuldarn,

One of our agents tipped us towards this, and a further investigation - while not proving completely conclusive - has convinced us of the fact that Guldorand's Lady Marshal Avalri Delocke (the city's chief of military and commander of the Shields) is engaging in an illicit relationship with Theodor Helbrecht (leader of the Andunor Militia and general war commander of Andunor).

We have put a copy of our investigative dossier into the Enemy Intel library shelf just to the right of this board here in the barracks for the Kuldarn to peruse.

While we believe it worthwhile that you know about this, we urge you not to take immediate action. We will present High Sheriff Kesa Hillside with this report directly, as we can not in good faith trust any of the Shields anymore. Once we have spoken to her, we will update you on her reaction.

Finally, we remind any that read the investigation that it contains sensitive details, including the names of some of our agents. Do not share the information within widely, or you risk compromising future efforts that we make on your behalf. We are your own intelligence agency - do not weaken us with loose lips.

Lady Saelynn's Oath to Falgrim

Lady Saelynn of Darrowdeep Keep's oath unto Thane Falgrim, recorded in the fourth month of 148 by Cassius Sjeckyik.

----------------------------------------------------

And thus, solemnly, unto you my loyalty I swear, Thane of the Tall Mountains and the Goldens Hall.

And thus unto the grand Dominion, and everything that falls thereunder.

And thus unto the cold heights of the Dark Spires, the wantless walls of Brogendenstein, and the forested fief of Darrowdeep.

And thus unto our valiant and brave people. And all that we are to protect.

In the face of adversary and plight, the colour of my heart shall not change.

And if I know which is the truth, and I'm not saying it, damned I'll be.

And if I know which is faith and I lose hope, damned I'll be.

And if I know which is love and mercy and my deeds are not born from it, damned I'll be.

Thane, you say unto us that Darrowdeep and Brogendenstein are two links in a chain. Let each day be another strike of the hammer as we forge the chain. The chain which keeps that which is right, and strong, and beautiful in the light, not to fall into the depth of despair, malice and evil.

I pledge before you all, that I will strengthen the links, in what way I may.

To aid and protect, to foster and build.

And to be at your side, in times of strife.

This is my duty, my loyalty, my oath.

Unto you and, and unto all. And unto myself.

Soteldo Guilibachyan

Known villain, Soteldo Guilibachyan, assaulted me, Rhazkuldar Snorri Wordsmith, in the halls in front of the bank. When Snorri refused to hand over his gold, Soteldo summoned mummies that attacked Snorri and ravaged the inside of the halls.

Snorri dismissed those mummies with a spell and pursued Soteldo to the mountainside village out of the southwestern gate.

There, Snorri and Soteldo did battle for some time, and Volamtar Stratonike joined the fray. When Soteldo started to become outnumbered, he took to the shadows and summoned wave after wave of mummies.

Several times, Soteldo left the field of battle and returned later to attack the village. He is known to live near the Crow?s Nest in a hut, but works with pirates out of Sencliff, including a human with a Vasaan accent.

This is the second attack by Soteldo. Previously this year, he attacked Goldhands at the gates in a report written by Snorri.

Three days hence, an expedition of kin and company left to the frozen north on routine writ work and with the goal of assisting Bowyder Bloodsmith, a transplant from Cordor that has sought to prove himself, in hunting a worthy foe.

Assault of kin Thargrim by Soteldo Guilibachyan

Soteldo Guilibachyan, a gnome who is known to disguise himself as a halfling and wear dark robes, assailed citizen of Brogendenstein kin Thargrim Goldhands, owner of crafting company Goldhands & Co. He wore a helmet with a crown-inlay and a metal visor of black and grey. His cloak had a foreign symbol with gilded trim. He bore a staff.

Soteldo had previously commissioned Goldhands & Co to craft three pairs of elven-style boots. Thargrim famously was very flustered at the hard work and expensive reagents that it took to craft these magical slippers.

When the crafting was completed, Thargrim was met in Brogendenstein Halls by a hin who told tale of arranging a meeting between Soteldo and Thargrim. Thargrim met with Soteldo at the appointed place and time on the eve of 26 Marpenoth, 174 AR, outside of the Golden Halls at the eastern gate.

It was then that Soteldo did unlawfully attempt to seize Thargrim, commanding him with conjured hands, and force him to drop the boots that Soteldo had not paid for. Luckily, this robbery was not successful, as kin Thargrim wisely made retreat into the halls.

Later, Soteldo did continue to pester Thargrim, sending him illusory messengers bearing threats to his life. Kin searched for signs of Soteldo who was long gone, and he is still at large in the land. Last known location of Sencliff Cove as of the morning after the assault.

For this, I accuse the gnome wizard Soteldo of attempted robbery, blood-letting, and impeding lawful commerce. Goldhands is an esteemed crafter of the Halls and honor demands that his business is protected from this murderous hermit.

Re: Kavri

I write that further violence is inexcusable. Whilst it violates our laws in the Halls, I believe many in the Grotto would agree that no good comes from gnomekin seeking to spill each others blood in retribution. Kavri has stated her wish to seek redemption and she will be given the opportunity to do so. Any seeking to meet this further with violence will be met with appropriate force.

This matter is regrettable but I hope to see cool heads prevail.

Fiendish Attack on Brogendenstein

On the 18th Day of the 4th month of AR 174, a group of fiend summoners and necromancers carried out a calculated attack on the folks of the Halls. The group has no known name, but has been feuding with some citizens of Brog over the past months, making multiple small atacks on the Halls and its folk.

In this latest event, they sent two warded, armed and disguised individuals into the Halls to draw attention. They were spotted, and the folk of the Halls gathers and gave pursuit. The folk of the Halls followed the suspects out the main gate and onto the slopes of the Mountain.

There, a group of 8-10 warded and armed enemies awaited in ambush. With minimal exchange, spells started to fly and a battle ensued. Their were casualties on both sides, and the enemies of the Halls retreated to an unknown location. No firm conclusion to the conflict was made.

Some of the individuals involved with this group and in the attacks are known by name or pseudonym.

Doppleganger Encounter

I was on my way from the Golden Hall to the Great Grotto. I absent-mindedly entered the wrong building and encountered a seemingly suspicous and shady looking gnome. It referred to itself as Magus Gold-Stone. It seemed very paranoid that I was following it for some reason. I asked some questions, to which it always referred to itself as we. Through study, I know of this and the paranoia to be distinct traits for Dopplegangers. It was also very strange that it possessed high level magic, but didn't know of the earthkin arcanum. This is especially strange for someone who should be a resident of the Great Grotto. After mounting suspicions of a threat to the Grotto/Brogendenstein, and an increasing hostility (including accusations of me being a doppleganger) from the supposed "Magus Gold-Stone"...I engaged in combat with it. I made use of my elemental summon and a wall of fire spell to deal with the Doppleganger. It tried to kill me with a greater ruin spell, but I prevailed in the fight. After slaying the Doppleganger, I took the body into the Golden Hall. There, I found Aideen. I recognized her as a Kuldarn, so I handed over the body and gave my testimony. We walked back to the Barracks, so I could give this report. Aideen placed the body in the locked room with a lever. In the highly unlikely scenario that the supposed "Magus Gold-Stone" wasn't a Doppleganger, they portrayed themself as one very convincingly. I acted for the safety of myself and Brogendenstein, to the best I could manage in the situation.

Intention to Fund: Grotto Redevelopment

Several buildings within the Grotto have been in disrepair since the Spriggan War - over fifty years ago by our count. With the sum of 500 000 gold I intend to fund a survey team who can provide an outline and likely costs of the repair of the various areas in question. I have asked Peregrine Felhammer to seek out a willing team or find someone with time to do so on the Grotto's behalf. The sum of 500 000 gold will be deposited in the appropriate account once it has been set up.     This project seeks to restore the historical and traditional representations of Brogendenstein, by way of public statues and fixtures.  This project is lead by Brogendenstein Historian Dokh of clan Himral-Hand, at the request of Regent Oak of clan Vintergard.

The three pillars of the project be as follows :

I :  Restoration of Harrowed Halls Memorials.
Several memorials in the Brogendenstein crypts have fallen into disrepair, or are nae befitting of their historical significance.
-  Thane Glanak Ironhelm requires a memorial in the Ironhelm section of the Crypts.
-  Ulstevuard Garmr "The Wise" Stonesoul require his memorial to be remade.
-  King Belrun Battlehammer requires his memorial to be remade.
-  Thane Ghestaldt Blimth and Finibelle Blimth require their memorials to be remade.

II :  Administration Fixtures
The Administration fixtures near Elder Khadgar's desk require updating, so be more in line with Brogendenstein's current traditions.

III :  Golden Halls Statues

Drillmaster Lonrumm

I have had Lonrumm as Rhazkuldar work unofficially in the capacity for some time. He has been in talks with Bendir and others to conduct wargames together. He is easily as proven as any of those who have taken their Kuldar oaths in the past.

I had him take his Kuldar oaths, with Darnoth and Elder Naly present, which he will repeat after the coronation. I took this measure to not burden the Warden and Warden's Second any further during this time. Officially he is regarded as Kuldar-in-waiting, but carries the same authority as any other. I expect him to be referred to as Drillmaster going forward.

I shall be considering others to the Kuldar-in-waiting position going forward, depending on how.

If any have issue with this, I expect you to speak with me directly.

Signed,
Regent Oak of Clan Vintergard
