= The Code of Research Conduct - The Grey Mage =

The Code of Research Conduct is the only rule of this faction but stems into many others. Overall, no faction member is to do anything detrimental to our overall objective. Any who attempt to stall, destroy, or prevent a particular contract or assignment's success will immediately be removed from our circle.

We are only to share information on research based on what is decided as a faction or by a client. Overstepping boundaries can often be detrimental to success. If there is suspicion that you have breached this code, you will be removed.

Committing crimes on various territories while operating under the faction's will can certainly stall our objective. I have no need for political threats and will not tolerate members breaking any laws while pursuing our objective. What you do in your own time is your business but please do not invite trouble into our affairs. No assignment will require you as the researcher to break any laws.

To prevent distractions, individualized conflict between members will be brought to the spell and sword. If there is a problem with non-guild issues, both members can request an  honourable duel outside of owned territories. Upon written consent of the duel, the loser forfeits their membership. This duel requires both parties to have signed consent from the other.

= Synthaflesh: Part I =

Synthaflesh is (when properly prepared via the original recipe) a dense, semi-solid substance. Typically, it is a neutral substance that reacts to the presence of live flesh and blood. When applied to an open wound, syntaflesh copies the hosts genetic and physical characteristics, filling the wound.

Mostly useful for things such as lacerations and as a "glue" to mend broken bones, synthaflesh cannot typically replicate complex structures like internal organs; if attempting to treat a punctured wound, for example, it will still turn into a massive lump of flesh, making things worse for the host.

Modifications to the reciepe can have a wide vareity of effects; synthaflesh can be made in liquid form, used to slow (or even halt) the aging process, or clone living tissue in a labratory setting.

= Grave Worms =

The Grave worm is an odd Carrion feeder, often electing to hunt live prey down itself to let them rot afterwards before consumption and egg-laying inside of them. Grave worms hatch in the hundreds inside of rotting carcasses and swiftly feast on eachother in a frenzy, leaving a bare handful to grow up in the harsh outside environnments later n.

The grave worm exudes some form of muckus that proves both resistant to magic and physical attacks, as well as providing a coagulant to help the grave worm regenerate wounds extremely quickly. To top it off, it also carries a nasty form of disease in it's bite to sap the endurance of its victims until they drop down unable to move as it takes its time in finishing them off leisurely.

= Synthaflesh: Part II =

In order to create synthaflesh, you need a large amount of base protein; raw flesh is often recommended. It needs to be mixed with a mild-to-moderate acidic base, along with a form of regenerative tissue (troll, slaad, etc). Various herbs or other potions can be added to enhance the formula.

Once the mixture has dissolved into a single, hemogenous substance, the acid must be neutralized (measure your acid and counteragent amounts very carefully beforehand). Make sure not to let the mixture sit for too long; otherwise, you will create an excessive amount of waste-matter.

From there, the mixture is then infused with a diluted polymorph potion or charged with a modified polymorph spell. Emphasis on "diluted" for the potion. The goal is to create a substance that is highly reactive and adaptable to physiological contact and change, not a freakish half-ooze creature.

Again, you can vary the formula; a stonebones draught may be used to create a synthaflesh variant specially designed to fortify the skeletal structure, for example. Be creative, but....be sure to TEST each batch before using it yourself.

= To Aeyl'kin from Manobi =

My friend - I have all of my notes ready to write the papers on summons in my journal. My apologies for taking this long. It will be a rather long and in depth assignemtn that I assume will be a few pages long. The knowledge will hopefully make up for the length I'of time I've taken to write it.

On another note - I have ascended to the sixtht circle of spells. I intend to write a paper on the three summons of elementals - but this will be at another time. I will need a few scrolls, but I have yet to think of what all I need. I will be putting 10,0000 in the guild bank to hopefully cover some of the gcosts.

Lastly, there is a very pressing matter to discuss. I am leaving a key to my room in this chest. Check the chest in my room for a letter. I can trust very few right now.

My apologies, I meant 10,000 gold. I have a lot going on right now. Could you possibly leave a response to the letter in my chest? Your friend, Manobi Van Aelios.

= Aeyl'kin - From Manobi =

I appreciate your kind words of my ability in conjuration. After much consideration - I do believe that I will follow this school to the end. As for the ritual, that was perhaps one of the most surreal experiences I've had on the isle. Perhaps I can participate in others during my stay here.

My apologies for not having my paper ready on the summons. I recently embarked on a journey to a rather obscure Island and was there for a day or two. I'm just now getting back and I'm going to enjoy a nice hot meal and get some much needed rest.

Thank you very much for the scrolls. I don't think you realize how thankful I am. I have left five spell components for you in the chest. I'm sure you have many, but perhaps you can use them. I will also be dropping off 5,000 gold at te bank for us all to use.  Stay safe.

= Conjuration & Requests =

It is common knowledge that some creatures within the "Summon Creature" spell of conjuration are better than others. At the same time - it seems counterintuitive that creatures within lower circles of magic may be better than those that are higher. I am going o test idea by putting all of the monsters up to Dire Tiger in different combat situations.

I will post my results here - but I do have a request. If anyone has experience with a variety of "Familiars." If you could write a short paper stating the strengths and weaknesses of what they have tried, I would greatly appreciate it.

Once I have reached the next circle of magic, I will continue my research on summons within the Conjuration school of magic. If anyone wants to know anything in particular about the spells up to Dire Tiger, let me know. I will try to be as thorough on this topic as possible and will have my results as soon as possible.

= Manobi, my friend.  Day 5, Month 6, Year 97 =

I thank you for your assistance with Max's ritual today, and for taking the time to have a lesson with me.  Your Slaadi is such a fine specimen!  I look forward to your research on the matter, and will look into the matters you have mentioned on the research board (please leave me a copy of that post in the chest here please!0

I have left two items in the chest for you.  A single scroll of Tenser's Transformation as you indicated an interest in it's use, and a scroll of Planar Binding, for you to continue your research of outsiders.

I look forward to reading your notes and seeing you soon
