FOREWORD FROM ANNOTATOR

While delving into my investigation of the renowned Church of All Shadow, I stumbled upon this intriguing dossier. In light of its historical significance, I have made the decision to republish it with slight updates and formatting adjustments for posterity. Despite the enigmatic authorship of this collection, numerous dates, names, and references align with my own research and notes from that era. This alignment instills confidence in the accuracy of the enclosed information. Notably, as of the present year, 181 AR, Miranda Magna remains a prominent socialite and performer at the Fool's Clover Playhouse, nestled within Cordor's settlement.

I. INTRODUCTION

To explain issues surrounding Miranda (Magna) is to also explain how she supports various criminals of the island. She often acts as an in-between for people, and finds ways to use her own resources to support evils around her, be it property, money, or materials. The book is loosely chronological, and includes activities of her friends and allies that she supported.

With that said, most recently she has been visibly aiding the Void Cult and its allies. Be sure to read 162 (AR).

II. (QUINTINO) VISCONTI AND SHARRANS: 143 to 145 (AR)

-143 (AR)-

Miranda arrived on the island. She found work at the Fool's Clover under the Sharran shadow mage Quintino Visconti. Visconti's goals in Cordor were to tempt people with gambling and lechery. To study people and learn how he could better lure people into losing everything they had. He wanted everyone to suffer Loss.

Miranda was very close to Visconti, and as such, Visconti put a geas on her to ensure her loyalty. The first geas was broken after the urging of others with the aid of the Arcane Tower, (and) according to Rick Snyder Miranda underwent a second one. Regardless if true, Miranda was extremely obsessed with Visconti, even years after he left the island. Miranda would very quickly turn against anyone who spoke ill of Visconti, and may still behave this way even today.

Visconti worked to convert Miranda (to the faith of Shar).

Visconti recruited Isabel into Cordor's government. Over the years, more and more evidence has surfaced of her being a Sharran and possibly a shadow mage. Spies and infiltrators have reported this, Isabel has admitted it to them. And, Agatha left the faith and named other Sharrans, including Isabel, Miranda, and Itzal. People who have traveled with Isabel noticed she doesn't use evocation spells, instead focusing on casting potent necromantic spells such as Avascular Mass, and shadow spells such as spells from the Shadow Conjuration line, as well as Shadow Plague.

-144 to 145 (AR)-

Miranda ran in Cordor's election, intending to be a puppet for Visconti so he could dedicate more time to his schemes. Visconti ended up robbing Cordor's treasury and fleeing the island. Miranda ended up Vice-Chancellor to Freja Stillwater.

During Freja's Chancellorship, Miranda and others within the government worked to undermine her authority and push for the acceptance of animation and palemastery in Cordor, largely within the Navy. This became publicly known as Myon's Coronal Clea Sara'faell put pressure on Cordor to remove palemasters from the city.

III. MIRANDA AS CHANCELLOR: DROW & NECROMANCY: 146 to 147 (AR)

Freja Stillwater died trying to protect Cordor from a necromancer. Miranda became the Acting-Chancellor.

Miranda allowed a drow to be harbored in Cordor's farmland. The drow claimed to be a paladin of one of the Seldarine deities, possibly Corellon. Myonian priests had already judged the drow as lacking, and refused her presence in Myon and the forest. Once people in Cordor learned of the drow being allowed to hide in the farmland, they rioted and set the property the drow was hiding in on fire. During the riot Miranda accused Zathlan of rabble rousing, told all elves to leave Cordor or die, and has had a grudge against Myon since then.

Miranda used Cordor's government portal to organize dungeon trips, inviting along people such as palemaster Millicas; career necromancer Olivia van Graf who purposefully cast as much necromancy as possible to maintain a diviner's mark on her for being a necromancer; Infernalist and ally Yoaumir; and Nick Aethur, a very close ally and co-conspirator to Miranda.

A bit more on Nick and Miranda, while most of his crimes weren't known until later, he was very close with Miranda and part of her operations. At this point in time it manifested as Miranda having a group of people around her able to craft anything and having a wide amount of rare goods. Miranda would give people things as "favors," to buy loyalty. Around 155 or 156 (AR), she was still doing this behavior, trying to get Edmund to make her a moonblade in exchange for gold and unlimited resources.

Olivia van Graf was part of Miranda's circle of "people who could offer a service," hers being necromancy. She was Millicas' necromancy teacher and made dracolich prisms for Miranda.

Miranda started working with Lladria around this time.

IV. FOCUS ON GELBERATH (STARGLOW): 146 to 147 (AR)

In years prior, Gelberath Starglow came to Cordor and befriended various people within the city, including Miranda who ended up working closely with him. Most relevant to this period of time, Gelberath ended up being the Grandmaster of Cordor's guard. Gelberath worked to try and support necromancy and palemastery within Cordor. During the trial of Millicas the animator, Gelberath argued that anyone who ever summoned Millicas into Cordor was just as guilty as Millicas, because they were summoning a necromancer.

-Additional Gelberath notes:-

Gelberath was married to the palemaster Myrrh. Upon her leaving the island, he became a lover to Miranda, referring to her as "love" whenever they saw one another.

Gelberath housed a coven of vampires in his tower for Myrrh's research. Myrrh had sustained them with her own blood to keep it a secret.

Zoey Starglow, another member of the family, left the island with Myrrh. In her Cricket Cave house, investigators found she used a coffin as a bed, as well as necromantic symbols.

Gelberath was later declared Persona Non Grata in 149 (AR) by Chancellor Emily Azuretide for conspiring with drow in Andunor, namely House Xyvil'kor who held contests for Underdarkers to kidnap people for the House to use as sacrifices.

Gelberath claims he spent time in Andunor because he seeks to free slaves. While he actually did free slaves, this was only a fraction of his activities below. Gelberath was a paid advisor to the Xyvil'kor. He walked Andunor openly, often in the company of kobolds. He actively tried to make himself seem useful to Andunor.

In 150 (AR) on a tour of Spellhold, Gelberath stole a mirror of some kind from it, along with a torture table. Later, a cursed mirror ended up in Andunor's Erudite Arcanum. It is believed that Gelberath gave the mirror as a gift to try and buy favor.

Gelberath is or was close with Isabel as well.

V. LIADRIA'S GOALS & ISABEL'S POLITICAL BID: 148 to 150 (AR)

Talonite priestess Lladria approached Vance Gravelle, seeking help in her schemes. She wanted to build Talonite shrines in all settlements, and later activate these willingly-built shrines to spread plague. Vance tried to warn people, but nobody acted on it.

Lladria also reached out to the Banites for the same thing, who also denied her.

Miranda was one of the first to accept and build the shrine. Later, in 156 (AR), Cordor's Trade Minister Edmund Sorrel (now Edmund Viaestar), who was in charge of confiscating the Fool's Clover, discovered notes where Miranda was helping Lladria scheme about the plague.

Isabel started a political bid in Cordor. Lladria worked for her, but played both sides in the election and got a government position after Emily Azuretide won.

Miranda defended both Isabel and Lladria when Vice Chancellor Rick Snyder wanted to remove them both from Cordor. Miranda said Lladria would do things at her request. Chancellor Emily Azuretide also regarded Lladria as being very close to Miranda as well, referring to Lladria as "your little elf" to Miranda.

Miranda began to purposefully misconstrue Rick's words to try and make herself a victim, arguing she was being forced to punish her employees for having an opinion, and later claimed she herself was being punished.

What actually happened was Rick just learned Lladria was a Talonite and was upset she was being offered a government job, considering she worked against Emily during the election. Lladria read government boards, combing them for information and began to spread libel against Emily Azuretide to try and boost support for Isabel.

Other close friends of Miranda also began to target Cordor's government. Malarite Tanar Vallareen and Night Serpent cultist Kisst Vallareen posted libel across the island in benefit of Isabel's campaign, were seen conspiring with Isabel, and even attempted to murder Cordorian officials.

VI. MIRANDA AS CHANCELLOR & MEETINGS WITH ANDUNOR: 151 to 153 (AR)

Miranda became Chancellor of Cordor over these years. During this time, she was caught twice making resource exchange agreements with the Valepaw Gnoll clan that led the Sharps district of Andunor.

The first time, the source of the information was unreliable, an anonymous report from a shapeshifted druid. Miranda was confronted and asked about it, she said the Valepaws wanted to meet so she sent people to spy and find out what they wanted.

The second time, Nick Aethur and an unidentified woman representing Cordor agreed upon a resource exchange. The woman is believed to be Miranda, she spoke with a Chancellor's authority on matters. Even if it wasn't her but another Cordorian official, Miranda knew about and approved the trade deal with Andunor.

Miranda was meeting with other Andunorians in Gelberath's tower during this time, as well as the Undergarden. A Drow regarded the tower as being a place for Surfacers not wanting to get caught in Andunor, and said Drow used the tower as a staging point. Miranda was known enough by Drow at this point they were talking about her. Gelberath's tower was used by both sides to exchange surface and underdark information.

Miranda was seen leaving the Temple of Mask in Shadow Cordor, owned by Nick Aethur.

Miranda threatened to make people pariah from Cordor for removing Lladria's plague runes from the city.

Lladria was seen in the Underdark headed towards Andunor from its neighboring caverns, walking with a necromancer who had vampire servants.

VII. LLADRIA SCHEMES TAKE FORM: 155 (AR)

Lladria came to Azuthan paladin Paige Mosbrooke seeking assistance in destroying a Chauntean altar in Cordor's farmlands. Lladria first said she wanted to temporarily remove it, however later tried to demolish it. Lladria's excuse was the soil is overharvested, and the Chauntean shrine is to blame. Lladria wanted to work with local druid circles to try and add some kind of "balancing agent" to help the soil, as well as adding her own alchemical agent.

During this incident, Lladria kept asking Paige if Paige would feel good about killing her. Lladria said she was tired of fighting and arguing, and wanted Paige to help deconstruct the altar because Lladria didn't want to fight. Paige said it sounded very manipulative. As well, Lladria stated in the past she wanted to get people to willingly help her spread plagues.

Peram Flint was also one of Lladria's supporters. He gave Lladria permission to remove the Chauntean altar.

Some notes on Peram, he harbored a chromatic dragon hatchling and nurtured it. When in Cordor's government, he flooded the sewers to kill gangsters and ended up killing countless innocents as well. Peram was an associate to Andunorian Infernalist Sydney Harrow, and even sought membership to the Erudite Arcanum. He robbed Cordor's treasury while Vice Chancellor in 155 (AR), before being voted out. Peram schemed with Kerras to put an assassin hit on the following Chancellor Evrain in 156 (AR).

Also during this timeframe, Lladria was hired by the Nomad, run by Wotan Woodberry. Wotan became very sick around this time.

VIII. LLADRIA'S PLAGUE & MIRANDA'S TRIAL: 156 (AR)

Lladria detonated her plan and attempted to spread (the) plague, (but) it was thankfully stopped quickly.

Miranda was put on trial for harboring criminals such as Lladria, Yoaumir, and Neli Ore. Other charges include breaking the terms of court order and passing her property, dodging city attempts to confiscate it; Trafficking moonblades and finding people to make them; And lastly, working with Olivia to create prisms to bond to a dracolich, who made them at Miranda's direction.

Miranda spent the trial trying to argue around each of the charges with vaguely legal sounding statements. For example, she said she put the Fool's Clover up for sale, it's none of her business that Edmund wasn't fast enough to buy it. And that the government never told her that she couldn't do this. According to Edmund's testimony, Miranda stalled the release process, bidding for time. Doors mysteriously opened and closed around the Clover, and during a point where Edmund was distracted, the property was released and Itzal bought it quickly.

Miranda created false evidence for the trial. She had a sword created for herself and had "moonblade" engraved on it, and argued she wasn't trafficking moonblades or soliciting their creation because she just so happens to name unrelated swords "moonblade."

Chancellor Evrain d'Immersea issued her an exile until either Miranda penned a confession to her crimes, or until future Chancellors no longer felt like maintaining it. The exile was lifted by Berenor as soon as Evrain left office.

After the trial, a bloody Abyssal sigil for Pazuzu was hung up on Cordor's board, Pazuzu is Neli Ore's patron and she invokes his name a lot, especially when making threats. During the trial Miranda argued she was pardoned for hiring Neli Ore by Emily Azuretide, even though Miranda knew Neli was a warlock before anyone else did. Neli hanging up threats after Miranda's exile shows they were on good terms still years later.

IX. MIRANDA ROBS THE RANGER STATION: 160 (AR)

Anaria Liamytholen was patrolling the Arelith Forest and found Miranda in the ranger station. Words were exchanged, Miranda gave snide remarks then picked up one of the station's notice boards. Anaria fell her, but the board was lost. The boards contained a lot of old forest lore and were a treasured resource of the forest for travelers passing through.

X. MIRANDA, NICK, AND THE VOID CULT: 162 (AR)

Matthew Gravelle entered the Undergarden while invisible, and saw Miranda speaking to Tebryn, head of Drow House Ssambra. They spoke on Andunor politics and temple issues. When Matthew's invisibility faded, Miranda instantly fell silent and went to a bookshelf and pretended to read books on it, as though she wasn't just speaking with Tebryn. She then left shortly after. Tebryn champions the Drow shadow deity, the Masked Lord Vhaeraun. Tebryn used to be close to the Void Cult prior to 153 (AR), and likely is allied to them once more.

Miranda bought a quarter in Shadow Wharftown from assassin Lilian Cladyth. Prior to selling the quarter, Lilian had left a note on the Void Cult's Lighthouse in Shadow Wharftown, wanting one of their Shadow Adepts to take it.

After a number of Open Hand members were captured in Shadow Wharftown by the Void Cult, once released Miranda told them they should apologize to the Void Cult for the trouble they caused. To make this more clear, the victims were being asked to apologize to the kidnappers. The kidnappers being the Void Cult.

Nick Aethur was put on trial in Cordor for admitting to socialize with the Void Cult as well as being on good enough terms with them to have access to the Shadow Wharftown Lighthouse. Nick's defense was he has a key because the Lighthouse has a good library, and that he socializes "to be neighborly." When the people were identified as Void Cultists, he said "Is that who they are?" in an attempt to claim ignorance. A lie, Nick had been conspiring with the Void Cult for years prior, having been scried scheming with them. Even if he hadn't, having access to the Lighthouse would certainly expose him to who they are. Lastly, Nick said he was being "neighborly," meaning he spends enough time in Shadow Wharftown to consider these people neighbors.

-Other notes-

Miranda used the Fool's Clover to harbor many vile people. Animators and palemasters from Cordor's Navy, Infernalist Yoaumir, Abyssalist Neli Ore and, as noted, Lladria's plague shrine. After pressure for necromancers to be removed from Cordor's Navy, she wanted to use the Fool's Clover to ensure they remained in Cordor. Miranda knew Neli Ore was a warlock. Neli faked being in love with Lathandrite Weston Cain, and on their wedding day murdered him. The withheld information could have saved Weston's life.

Nick Aethur has been responsible for thefts from Myon's burial grounds in the Arelith Forest, the Lye Astalderea.

For years Everett Addams the pirate and spy has lurked around Cordor despite exile, even assaulting city officials. He is or was a member of Nick Aethur's Temple. By allowing Nick to operate in Cordor, it encourages all of the undesirable people he recruits to come to the city as well.

Miranda was also close with Everett, using him as a spy for her own ends as well.

Itzal is close with Miranda. The two would go on walks in the Shadow Plane together, bonding over both being shadow dancers. Itzal was named as being a Sharran, whether or not he still is remains unknown. But he is confirmed still being close to Miranda and working with her.

Itzal is very close to Peram Flint, a halfling male who is corrupt to his core as described in notes from 155 (AR). This became relevant after Peram was declared pariah in 156 (AR) for conspiring with Sydney Harrow. Cordor's government was concerned that Itzal was so close with Peram, Itzal would seek revenge for him. Itzal is still believed to be close to Peram.

Also notable about Peram Flint is he held a shop for a very long time called the "Helping Hand." There was a Helping Hand Gang that robbed houses across the isle for years. If Peram holds any connections to the Maskarrans, he could have been the fence.
