Elriel/Ambsace (Painting)
A painting that appears only half finished, as if done from only the vaguest of descriptions. It appears to be a male elf, garbed in grey and brown clothing, a hood pulled close up against his head so only the lower mouth, and a few strands of black hair can be seen. The mouth is caught in a cool, commanding sneer, pointed vampire fangs visible on pail, curled lips. In one hand he holds a shield with a lions head on it – the most detailed part of the picture.
Beyond that it’s all impression and suggestion, the rough brush strokes of black and gray and off green suggesting an underdark setting behind the figure, but naught more. A mystery this one, to a large extent, but all the more unsettling for it.
At the bottom right of the picture, very small, is a tiny black rams head, in profile, with ‘A.S.’ beneath it.
