Perunika (Painting)
Facing straight onto the viewer is a human woman with dark black hair, two fringes of which dangle in front of her severe, unsmiling face. She is slender, dressed in dark armour with large shoulder pads. A black cloak with red lining hangs behind her, and in front of her she holds a sword with both gauntleted hands. In front of her sits a heavy anvil, hammer and tongues resting on it, glowing crimson with heat.
Her pail, unsmiling faith holds the faintest hint of fangs. Her red eyes gaze forward, unrelentingly, continuously, as if boring through. The background of the picture gives a dull ruddy red halo, fading off into deepest, darkest black.
There is something very deeply ominous about the picture. Like an oncoming storm, or the first rumblings of a volcano, the vampire presents herself as an engine of death – simple perhaps, uncomplicated even, but a continuous, inevitable, unstoppable force of destruction, sending a shiver down the spine of any sane creature.
At the bottom right of the picture, very small, is a tiny black rams head, in profile, with ‘A.S.’ beneath it.
