Shadow Egg and Potential Devil Threat to Halls

A group of six or so from Cordor including the Rivorndirs did come to the Halls all of a sudden claiming they had a meeting with Darnoth.

I did accompany and upon entering the Halls was greeted by a two dragons, one being Darnoth, the other a Steel Dragon by name of Hannara.

Group from Cordor presented them with a dragon egg tainted by shadow. Informed the egg was stolen from the Steel Dragon by shadow cultists and retrieved by the Cordor group.

Egg is to be protected here in the Halls by Darnoth and Hannara while the Cordor group attempt to find a way to purify the egg.

Darnoth warned us that the egg may attract attention of evil such as scaled devils known as Abishai. They must be destroyed without mercy.

Should the group fail to purify the egg, Darnoth will raise it against it's nature. He assured us this has been done successfully before but purification is obviously much preferred.

Public Boards of Andunor

The following are items of interest from public boards in Andunor.

There is some war going on between House Xel'Varaxa and Hel'Vael.

There seems to be a higher than usual hostility towards surfacers. Some organization called the Black Lash, headed by Lavok Xun'Vir, seems to be dedicated to rooting out surfacers. Mocking posts on the boards about how Halfling visitors to the city should fatten and grease themselves up first, and so on.

There is an open bounty on all surfacers in the City and its surroundings. There is a list of exceptions to this, and from context, I believe these individuals are agents of Aundunor. Ghost, a male half-elf. Jack Topholiho, a male Hin, Ragnar Varangar, a male half-elf, and Tiffa Took, a female hin.

Most disturbingly, there is a large bounty active for our friend Lonrumm. It is 400 thousand alive, and 200 thousand for his head. For the crime of sending his fey into the city.

Election: Approval of Regency (I)

As described in The Trials of Thanedom, the second election has commenced. During this time you may use your vote to voice support of the path taken so far, or indeed to voice your opposition and even stand yourself. I encourage all citizens of Brogendenstein to participate in this vote. As always please take the opportunity to approach me about any concerns you might have.

Whilst much of the work of being regent must go on behind the scenes, I provide some examples of work so far.

Appointment of purser Khardar Goldenbeard who has set to work in lowering taxes and encouraging cooperation between traders in managing shops. More varied wares are available and Brogendenstein has bustled with trade since his appointment.

Appointment of High Cleric Valdrin who has mobilised the temple's efforts and helped direct the many capable clergy in their efforts to bring the Morndinsammans blessings to the kin of the Halls.

Appointment of Drillmaster Lonrumm who organised the wargames that were held in Cordor. This allowed us the opportunity to meet with our allies in the Axehold Accords and promises to be the first of many training meets that ensures a stronger response to whatever might threaten the surface.

Appointment of Olivia van Graf to the Icehold in the Spires. Recruitment is up and we are better placed than ever to respond to any threats from our mountains.

Great Grotto redevelopment fund where we have pledged coin to conduct a survey of the work needing done. Once conducted we will pledge further amounts to ensure the work is completed.

Publishing and distribution of previously unseen texts relating to Brogendenstein's history. (So far distributed within The Golden Halls, The Grotto and Bendir). This, along with some other historical projects currently being undertaken by the new Xothdelver and Elders, not only serves to preserve our history but also has encouraged cooperation between ourselves and the other historical institutions of the isle.

The above is by no means a comprehensive list and makes no mention of the already countless meetings held with representatives of the various groups and settlements across the isle. As a result of said meetings, I expect to be able to make several announcements in the coming months.

To conclude, I once more reiterate my mission statement.

We endeavour that the Dominion of Brogendenstein shall forever stand as a bastion against evil, and respite for the innocent.

Declaration of Oak's Trial for Haela

Let it be known that Oak Vintergard, regent of the Golden Halls of Brogendenstein and aspiring thane, has borne soul an steel, flesh and fire against the bitter cold and deathly creatures of the manour of mourn, against avatars of primal chaos and come out battered, bruised, and victorious.

Thus, with his trial completed, beneath the scrutinizing gaze of our ancestral gods the Mordinsamman, atop the highest peak of the dark spires, has he completed his challenge. And so let it be known, that the first of his trials on the path to thanedom, a trial of luck and combat, is passed.

Let it be known, and as such make sure to drink with him and ask of him the story.

Update: Daedric Snowshepard, Cordor (d4, m11, 174AR)

Keywords: Void Cult Merwyn (tiefling), new chancellor election (Cordor), Vigdis and Daedric observed together.

Update on Daedric Snowshepard.

----------------------------------------

Contacts identify the woman/tielfing that Daedric and Sorrow was talking to in the Shadowrealm to be one certain 'Merwyn' - known Void Cultist an cannibal. Her erstwhile lover, an elf, has retreated to the mainland and therefore her eyes are set on different on new schemes and plots. Reportedly dangerous and has a domicile in the wretched realm of Shadows.

Worryingly, too, Daedric has been observed together with Vigdis Odhinskarr, the Illmater knight who has given so much grief on the surface, primarely Cordor. She is identified as the 'ringleader' of their group. They were observed together when she was given note of being Pariah in Cordor whilst her other companions Gaderal and Sly have been exiled. Suspicion of being tied together, somehow.

    Elections in Cordor.

------------------------------------

Elections are reportedly going to be held in Cordor, challenging the incumbent doctor Providence.

There are three candidates who've voice interest:

High Watcher Konstantin Helbrecht

General Devon Marshal

Vice-Chancellor Varfogar Arrelanes

The first one is reportedly causing some tension and a likely candidate to win. He plans to put the known troublemaker Jach Springrunner as General which puts the current guard of Cordor in tension as they deeply distrust him. Fear of more tension in the city.

'In The Depths of Despair'

Arelith,

By now I am dead. By now, my body turned to ashes and my soul likely torn into eternal damnation.

Many will find comfort in my death if not celebrate it. But know that with my death, the Bloodlord and Dark Sun's will are unleashed. Know that my death will bring forth chaos and murder in their truest forms. "Fire & Blood" will paint the skies red. The "Tapestry of Life" will unfold right before your very eyes. There is no "Great Escape" from what I leave behind as the island will be covered "In A Sea of Red". Through suffering and strife, through loss and rage, through paranoia and distrust, we find ourselves in the "Depths of Despair".

"I will be the last creature when I am done. The cosmos will then be perfect, free of the braying abominations that are all other living things."

"Any method or means is justified if it brings about the desired end."

To those in The Great Grotto

As you will be aware, there hasn't been an Overseer of the Grotto for some time and I hope that we can see about remedying this. I asked if a moot might be arranged to provide one but see now that waiting for this was a poor choice. I can only apologise for the lateness in addressing the Grotto. Hindsight makes it clear that even a simple note of intention would have sufficed in the interim, yet I can only work with the here and now.

It is my wish that your representative is one that you can all agree on, and therefore the concerns they bring to me are those of you all. While we might await for a new Overseer to emerge from the Grotto, I ask that if any of you are aware of matters that need addressing by the Regent, please get in contact with either myself or Grolick Grayfury, Overseer of the Dominion directly. Notices only posted here risk being missed.

Notices and letters left at the door of the Thane's Halls in the Hall of Legends will be addressed as swiftly as I am able.

Gnome Pirate Called Gristle Passed Through the Earthkin Lands

I was sat by the benches near the boards in Bendir when a gnome ran through being chased by a group of elves hot on his tail trying to strike at him. I warded up and ran down to see what in the name of Silverbeard was going on. The elves i recognized as some Cordorites. They said that the gnome was a pirate in league with Andunorian forces and that he ran through the portal to Brog. So i chased after the gnome myself. In the enterance to Grotto i caught up to him.

He asked if i was with the elves, i said that i was with the earthkin and that undarkers were not allowed in Brog's lands. He said that he was a pirate, and started warding up. I entered sanctuary and warded up myself. During this, he struck down an onlooker, and i started to battle the filth. As i was about to strike him down he ran down into the Grotto by catching one of the elevators that were passing by and i followed.

I warded the area against teleportations so that he couldn't get away, as he had hidden down in the tunnels by the time i caught up. I found and fought him down there as well, but he started running after being brought to his knees and used healing equipment again. I had to retreat back up to refresh my wardings, told people in the halls to call for assistance and headed back down.

He was gone by the time we went back down there joined by Lonrumm and an elf called Melasafir who was one of the original pursuers.  We checked down by the underdark portal too but found no tracks and decided to disperse. The gnome must have used a lens after running down deeper into the Grotto.

I would advise rigorous preparation before fighting that gnome, he is quite dangerous and gave me a hard time during battle. He also seems to have no reservations in attacking people so if you don't think you can take him on, do not engage and retreat instead.

Regent of Brogendenstein: Oak Vintergard

By the grace of the citizens of the Dominion of Brogendenstein, I have been duly elected as Regent.

I am both proud and grateful that following the abdication of Thane Falgrim Vintergard, all eligible citizens would rally round a single candidate (for some this meant setting aside their own ambitions) and declare their support in a united voice.

This was an election in which we also reaffirmed our people's faith in the Old Traditions. The Trials of Thanedom that I shall embark on have shown time and again their importance; Any who doubt this need only consult the history books to see what poor rulers result when they are disregarded.

I have long spoken on the importance of our allies, whether in Brogendenstein or further afield. To this end, I reiterate to you who live outside our Mountain home that Brogendenstein stands proudly alongside those who believe in our shared values;

In Brogendenstein, we believe the circumstances of our birth are not important. These Halls are the result of the collective blood and sweat we have ALL shed in support of them and one another.

Coven of the True Queen information. 21st, month 6, 174AR

Regarding the Coven of the True Queen

This report is based on eye witness accounts from the Black Archers as well as my own information gathering efforts. This report serves to lay out all that I have found out as consicsely as possible.

-The Coven is led by a figure called 'The Watcher'. He is known to use shield and spear. He is often hooded and can make his eyes glow at will. Though he is human in appearance, he claims not to be from this plane.

-The Coven of the True Queen operates out of Sibayad. The home of their leader appears to be their headquarters and is situated in the back left of the indoor respite area on the way up to the Manzil portal.

-The Coven recruits sorcerers, warlocks and wizards.

-The Watcher worships a 'Queen who must not be named'. I speculate this is the Queen of Air and Darkness of the Unseelie court.

-The Coven is actively building alliances. The Black Archers report the Coven has been in direct contact with Theodor Helbrecht.

-The criminal Harkhos is on friendly terms with the Watcher.

-The Coven seems to be looking to exert control over Sibayad.

Other known members include:

Damsel - An elven woman. The Watcher's lover.

'Ginny' - A disciple in all black. This is one of Shera Smith's alter egos.

I speculate at least two more members exist as I have spotted hints of them in the periphery of my investigation.

Incident report Day 3, Month 7, year 174 AR.

A tall person, can't tell if they were an elf, human, or half elf, wearing dark grey cloak, and a beaky, raven or crow-like helm, wielding a pair of daggers, went invisible in the trade hall. After that, he or she attacked a man named Gaderel and fled immediately.

Considerable damage was done to the aforementioned Gaderel, but he did not die from his injuries. When questioned, he had no idea why the attack happened. Gimdar and myself patrolled around the halls, the brewery, and then down the endless stair a ways.

Elves hiding their faces were frequenting the halls during and immediately after this. Alltogether, these questionable individuals, including the assailant, numbered three. Two were clearly female.

I'm not sure if there will be repeat offenses, and I'm not sure what can even be done about this, but there it is. Keep an eye out, I suppose.

Through our intelligence network we have learned that those below are aware of the coming elections.

It is believed the Duergar seek to take advantage of this uncertain time. Named targets so far being Ulstevaurd Naly Vintergard and myself (due to my candidacy).

It is advised that when on duty that basic long lasting wards are worn at all times, especially within the Trade Hall.

Three Duergar clans are so far identified.

Dwarf-smasher, Hellbelch, Blackhelm. It is possible their hatred and jealousy is such that they may even work together in this matter.

I was approached by a human named Dara who is concerned they may have been taken prisoner in the underdark. They were last seen two threeweeks ago in the underdark, West of the Iceroads.

If you see catch mention of them in Andunor I would appreciate you letting me know. The latter is a friend.

Before this they tended to be seen around the Halls and Bendir, and their sudden absense is certainly unusual.

AR 174, 7th of Kythorn: Report of Recent Andunorian Activity I

* BLACK ARCHERS *

A growing banding-together of warlocks aim to disrupt the Black Archers of Myon. Particular targets are Karathis and Neverath. Time will tell whether the occultists have the pluck to go toe-to-toe with the Black Archers.

* BLACK IRON BRAWL *

A recent tournament in Dis, held by Holly Holtz and the kobold Maknold. A typical tournament consisting of Andunorians and pirates; it is mentioned here only for a single curious factoid: one of the tournament?s attendants was Lord Aldros Rivorndir and his large retinue. They did not participate. It is not the first time the Rivorndirs have endorsed Andunorian tournaments in the Hells with their presence and it is our view it will not be the last.

* JHAAMDATH'S BOUNTY *

Among the fractures in Andunor is growing resentment towards the infamous Jhaamdath Xun'viir. Assassin contracts on his head continue to pile up; he has responded publicly calling his enemies to fight him face to face. Curiously, House Xun'viir appears to have largely removed themselves from this particular debacle bearing their name; Jhaamdath appears on his own.

* ANDUNOR MILITIA *

The militia has moved headquarters. Theodor Helbrecht came to an agreement with Greyport's Port Authority, Saslae Xun'viir, to have the militia occupy the district house. The district house boasts control over a couple shops, a bar, a large central feasting hall, a few quarters off the main hall, and a prison area.

They have begun yet another fundraiser, "Getting a-Head", encouraging local Andunorians to bring in the heads of monsters. The top three hunters will win gold; the militia pockets some of the proceeds.

AR 174, 7th of Kythorn: Report of Recent Andunorian Activity II

* MINISTER FLORUS' ASSASSINATION *

Cordor's Minister of Culture Flavius Florus has recently spoken out against the halfling Tiffa Took, claiming she betrayed Cordor to Andunor and has secretly been an agent of Theodor Helbrecht. By the grace of Lathander, Minister Florus is returned, and we have spoken to him and others in an attempt to unravel the betrayal. Though we are still uncovering details about this situation, the short version as we know it so far.

Tiffa was for a long time a retainer of House Rivorndir. "As family", so some Rivorndirs claim. At some point she became infatuated with Theodor's brother Sarek and left Cordor to try and change Sarek for the better. Though she supposedly gave up on this after some time, her association with Theodor had begun.

She lived in Andunor for the next three years under the name "Lucky"; during this time she was afforded Theodor's protection and as such is one of only two known free halflings of Andunor (the other goes by Smythe; also an associate of Theodor's). Several drow Houses began to see her as a potential surface informant, while simultaneously suspecting her of being a spy for Cordor. In order to allow her to stay in Andunor as a free halfling and to stay the Houses' hand from killing those she cared about, she agreed to a trial: the blood of someone she used to care about. She chose Minister Florus, although was not happy to do so. She supposedly apologized over and over during the attack. It nonetheless was a success and Tiffa, or rather Lucky, has affirmed her place in Andunor.

Theodor Helbrecht is not pleased by Minister Florus' return. He is currently coordinating the assassination of both Flavius Florus and his significant other Scarlet Vasquire (the assistant culture minister of Cordor). The two are aware of this and are taking the necessary security precautions. Nonetheless they are on edge; stress takes its toll.

FAO Rhazkuldarn: Patrol and Excursion Board

It has been brought to light that we could be having more regular meetings and patrols, particularly with the Rhazkuldarn.

Given this, we will make efforts to use the Patrol and Excursion Board to inform Rhazkuld of more informal patrols and meetings, requiring less notice.

Rhazkuld may also use this board to coordinate with one another, perhaps allowing Kuldar with a free moment to accompany, observe, and mentor.

This avoids cluttering the mainboard while allowing kin to communicate team-ups more often.

Please take your time to check the board by the portal room as well as this one whenever you are checking in at the Barracks.

I gets in to town to find a disscushun  goings on in the nest ,   A dwarf has attacked and killed an Orog  who was a while before in the inn , was  told to leave and he did with an elf  Seem Dwarf follow them and  depends on who you believes  the dawfs attacks the Orogs  first or the Orog summon a deamon or devil

End result one dead Orog in forest  not in dale ,

After talks with both the dwarf (Balkrag Redmane) and Elf (Tilari Naltanarlie)  the event unfold like this

the elf is escorts the Orog out of Bendir towards forest they talk  Seem Orog is bounty hunter looking for slave  who called ( elf talk with lisp so name may be wrongs) oothermather chaynn Bloadcloak

Dwaft catches up  then summon his elemental( type not said)  try to question orog (elf say Dwarf not give orog a chance to answer as  he summon an undead at the time  (again not know what kind)  Was at this point iinside the dale  the Dwarf attack the orog ,  Elf trying to be helpfulls  and stop fight  cast a haste on the orog  , he run to Forest where Dwarf catches and kill him

Now this Orog matches the description of the one that invaded the Golden halls a few day back  Big  mean Wear heavy black armour  summons Undeads  So as far as I see Dwarf did right thing

As for the Elf she is a healer  not likes any kind of violence , she mean well even tho it an orog she helps

Orog and demon attack on the Halls

Earlier today an orog did strike at the Trade Halls, killing an unarmed kinsman and almost felling another, Kinsman Stratonike. The latter did manage to alert us in Bendir. Many in Bendir did accompany me through the portal but the orog had already fled.

A description of the orog: Heavily armoured, dark colours. Had summoned what was believed to be a Glabrezu. Wielded a two handed axe, thought to be two bladed.

My personal speculation is that this is another attack by the Deep Legion, but this needs to be confirmed.

On assessing the scene it appears they had lensed out after stealing a number of shrines and statues. Given the number taken, we are hopeful they can be retrieved as it is unrealistic for a single orog to carry so much themselves without being noticed.

Following this I did inspect the half breed camp. An orog was found there but not matching the description given. As I had given my word to stay out of trouble I avoided slaying the creature and asked if it knew an orog matching the above description but they claimed to be unfamiliar (and seemed too stupid to lie.)

Have collected some stone and wood and placed in the Vault for in the event we cannot retrieve the statues and need replacements.

Unity

There have been recent rumours of a planned raid upon Brogendenstein. This combined with more underdarker sightings in the Spires and talk of Elder beings that wish us harm reminds us of the importance of unity.

It should go without saying that we in Brogendenstein expect good coordination between ourselves and those posted here in the Spires Citadel. In the event of a mass sighting of underdarkers, your first reaction should be to inform those here in the Spires and your allies in Brogendenstein as quickly as possible. We can then coordinate an appropriate reaction.

Brogendenstein's first commander is likely to be Gotriik Vintergard. Assuming the Thane is otherwise engaged, please coordinate with him whenever possible. Failing that the next most senior Kuldar you are aware of.

I would also recommend a discussion of likely tactical defenses in the event of a raid. At time of writing, myself, Gotriik and the current Overseer are informed of these potential defensive options and we will be informing other Kuldar as they become available.

Furthermore, we in Brogendenstein are aware of a need in our own ranks for combat coordination training. We suggest the same is conducted by those in the Spires if possible. At a minimum, confirm all Warriors are aware of chain of command and priority targets in the heat of battle.

Despite lesser numbers, Brogendenstein has often succeeded where others did fail simply due to good coordination and brotherhood.

Be ever vigilant,
