Vampire Dossier: Jhi Belle’rose

Overview:

An ex thralls with delusions(?) of being a Vampire. Jhi is a tenacious and dangerous creature. Once an elven blade warrior, (though her race is now half elven) she has recently shown hemomantic abilities. Like a Vampire, she seems to want to work in society (which she does by putting on a variety of guises, e.g. Annika, Jia Wei, ect)

She considers Adelyn Bell’rose a ‘mother’ of sorts, and is said to be bound to her in other mystic ways. Her sanity has been completely eroded, and though she’s been given many chances to change her path (if such is indeed possible) she has denied them all.

Appearance:

Jhi is a half elven female of Eastern decent, perhaps Tara Kuran. She has long black hair and sharp features. She has red and black tattoos on both her arms and a large thigh tattoo on her right leg. Her outfits change regularly as she often uses disguises.

History:

How Jhi (then Jhi Kir-Khala) came to Arelith is unknown, but around the year 182, early into her arrival she met with deep misfortune as she was captured and enslaved by the Orog known as Dhraknar. He treated her most cruelty, and eventually sold her to the Vampire Adelyn Bell’rose.

Swiftly after her purchase Adelyn tricked/persuaded Jhi into drinking a cup of her blood, which enthralled her to the Vampiress.

Jhi was later seen walking on the surface in a couple of settlements. In Cordor she was apprehended by the guard, and arrested. In the cells they attempted to help her – to cleanse her of her enthrallment, and tried to help her break her collar. I was called on for my expertise on this, but Jhi seemed quite unwilling or unable to seek freedom of any sort. There were moments of clarity in her words, but mostly she always came back to wanting to go home, wanting to go back to her Mistress, Adelyn. She did reveal a little of her past. Her mother was a blade-dancer of elven decent, and her father… was not. I got the impression of a troubled family history there.

Eventually she was released, and went back to the underdark. Around this time she befriended another halfelf called Syclya. Syclya was also a troubled individual, with little to no understanding of consequence. She seemed to desire to help Jhi and, in doing so, fled to the underdark herself and took a slave collar, working with Adelyn Bell’rose.

Their enslavement to the Vampire, and their enthralment too (At least of Jhi, I’m not so sure about Syclya truthfully) earned them an exile from Guldorand and many other places on the isle.

During this time they attacked people in Guldorand Port District. Jhi was also complicit in the capture and torture of Aiden, an ex lover of Syclya. She moved to the Port District for a bit, before eventually being driven out and moving to the Arcane tower. I believe she tried her luck in the Underdark a bit too, but as a halfelf found little tolerance there.

During this time she took on Adelyn’s second name, and seemed to see her more and more as a mother figure. She also began to show vampiric qualities herself, to the extent it is/was unknown if she was a Vampire or not. It is believed she took a ‘blood oath’ to Adelyn,

It also seemed for a time that Jhi and Syclya constantly sought to find acceptance upon the surface, even though they were utterly unwilling to leave the Vampire – (or Jhi was anyway, Syclya proved less loyal). They seemed to have little understanding of the consequence of their actions.

Around this time Adelyn Bell’rose went quiet. Syclya broke thraldom and enslavement and joined Sencliff and became a pirate for a bit. She seemed to have some sort of falling out with Jhi, but this was swiftly mended. After a while Syclya then left Sencliff (but retained many old friendship). Then she and Jhi joined the Arcane Tower. Whether Jhi and Syclya are/were lovers or friends is unsure, but they were certainly very close.

Jhi was eventually removed from the Arcane tower due to her inability to cut dies with Adelyn. I heard rumours that she was killed in the Arcane Tower, by the Radiant Heart or Cordor, and for a short while thought the matter closed. But then again there appeared rumours of her presence about the isle, especially around the Tower. I’ve since learned that around this time she took some sort of ritual and became a ‘Blood Knight’ of Adelyn Bell’rose. (Authers Note – if this paragraph appears a little vague and disjointed, that is because it is. The information here is extremely vague. I hope in future editions, with more time for research, I can improve it.)

It appears she tried to rejoin the Tower Wardens under the name Annika. But was, once more, found and removed. She has since sent several threats to tower wardens.

A while after this reports reached me of one named ‘Jai Wei’ in Guldorand, who was acting in a vampiric fashion but was not a Vampire (a Paladin’s healing magic healed her) I suspected this might be Jhi, and my suspicions were proved correct with later reports, and events.

There were many other prior assaults by Jhi and Syclya, prior to the recent events, but I’ve been unable to find concrete records of them easily. I shall seek to do so in future editions.

In recent days I believe Jhi has been responsible for no less than four separate attacks on various people – reports included within. A spy report from Rey confirms at least one of those attacks in my opinion.

As a note Re. Cale Frostwalkers report: This happened not long after he met a strange woman in cordor who both showed an interest in blood and Mullihorandi religion. After the attack on his person (using blackfire, a hemomantic spell, which he managed to escape) he returned with some others to the dale to deal with her. There he encountered vampire THRALLS (as in living, breathing vampire servants). It is unknown if these two things are related but such sightings are unusual. The attacker (almost certainly confirmed as Jhi if we believe her words in the shadovar tradepost sighted in the Vampire Meetings report) was very well warded. I do not know how she managed this, unless she used scrolls or had allies.

After these events she has taken on the same identity as Lucretia ‘Shade’ and tried to befriend an elf, Xintillia in that guise. She has been trying to seduce the sunite Jard also. Xintylla has rebuffed her ‘friendship’ and has since received threatening messages. I have also received threatening messages, as have the Arcane Tower.

Two ‘Vampire Anchors’ (items where a vampire can regenerate, like coffins) were discovered by the Valkyries (Astrid in especial) in the Shadow Plane Forest. These were tomb stones with the names ‘Jhi Belle’rose’ and ‘Kaladith’ on them. Both were destroyed. Jhi’s tombstone was unresponsive to this – but Kaladith’s let out an eery dark magic, which appeared harmless but suggested some activity. A real vampire perhaps?

Also around this time she took on the guise of ‘Samantha’ in order to befriend Xintylla again, but this was recognised. It is unknown if she still uses that guise, she may move onto another. Finally rumour has it (not yet substantiated) that she lured a lady from Skal, Cassandra, to the underdark and made her a slave. This is still being investigated as of the writing of this update.

Other:

*Is known to be highly personable and charismatic, gains friends easily until she’s revealed. Often turns on them, or uses them.

*I believe she can be concluded to be absolutely loyal to Adelyn Bell’rose, despite protestations otherwise

*Unknown if she is a Vampire or not. Reports have come in of her taking receiving positive energy without negative effect. But in many other ways she seems to behave as a Vampire and, given her close alliance with Adelyn, it could be either way. I advise preparing for both positionalities if facing her.

*Her status as a ‘Thrall’ is also unknown. She certainly behaves much as one, and she certainly WAS one, but there have been long periods where Adelyn was apparently absent. For her to get continued doses during this time would have been difficult. Ultimately I feel the question at this point is mostly academic. She is absolutely loyal to Adelyn. She has been given quite literally hundreds of opportunities to change and she’s cast aside every one.

*Is known to have created pictures of herself, graves of herself, and more. She seems to want to really give the impression her mortal self is dead, even if (note IF) it is not.
