Revelations:
Day 1 - Month 5 - Year 161
I had originally intended to write this book as a almost textbook like catalogue of the revelations I had received, academic, cold, heartless. That, I have decided, is not proper, it does not carry Lolth's message.
Lolth has guided me to encounters within Andunor, that have enlightened me to the rotten state of the Temple; personal meetings with the traditional matrons has had my opinion of them plummet. Worse yet the moderate Lolthites, who preach they do not agree with the opinions of the radical, and yet support them tacitly, for fear of losing their 'strength', but what is strength if not exercised?
Indeed the phrase "We Are All Lolth's Meat", though many profess to be against the philosophy, that is not so, they are against the negative connotations the phrase has acquired. Beware those claiming to be Matrons who care overmuch for their males whilst at the same time placing them under their heel, it is a method of control, not equality.
Dark Elf society exists in the way it does because of the powerful, and capricious Matrons that reside over it. They hand down tyrannical judgements they think of and pass them of as divine writ. Lolth, is still our goddess, she gives us strength, she allows us to thrive, but above all else she desires chaos, and lies are a part of her domain, so what better demonstration of her power than to allow her highest clergy to lie about her own intent. A theological paradox perhaps, but just as she allows her clergy to lie, she allows me to tell the truth of her being.
It is a secret, amongst the Priestesshood, that the most favored sacrifice to Lolth is an adult Dark Elf male of substantial skill. Some would cry out when this is revealed, stating it is proof of Lolth's favor for the women, but it is infact the opposite. Do you call your chaff, your weeds of society to your side to serve you forever? Or do you call your strongest, your preferred. That Lolth favors women with divine power cannot be ignored either, this balance is what makes me believe, that to Lolth, all Drow are equal, the only ones below them are other races.
Life, is a dance between a predator, and prey, the prey will inevitably unite against the predator, unless they are under the impression the predator is infact prey. Many rage against the idea of working with Darthiir for example, but when better to stick the knife in when you have gained someones trust?
Everything I have said thus far, can be explained away, even turned to the support of the Temple; but not this, The Temple should be razed to the ground, its priestesses dragged by their hair into the streets and slaughtered. Lolth would not care, she favors the strong, and the Temple is weak, they preach dominance whilst showcasing weakness. They lie about Lolth's will and consort with demons and devils to glean 'truth'. I accuse no specific priestess but the structure of clergyhood itself, It is flawed, to trust someone due to a title, is /wrong/ any Dark Elf can worship Lolth in their heart, and on the battlefield, a Temple is only the trappings of a decadent caste of self pompous hags who desperately cling to a dominion they falsely believed they ever had.
