Vampire Dossier: Cruz Sanchez

Overview:

Was active around the 179AR. Known for repeatedly attacking Bendir’s Dale, leaving injured and dead in his wake. Apparently had a long standing feud with Brogdendstien, and had a Nemesis relation with Quow.

Description:

Dark haired human male of Amnian decent. Wore chainmail of a dark grey colour, almost reaching the black tone, with red leathers and fabrics, bracers with spikes and spiked shoulder pads. Wielded a flaming falchion

History:

Was turned into a vampire on his wedding day. His wife was not turned by was killed, an act that left him bitter and resentful.

He claims that after his conversion to undeath, for a while he attempted to devour only animals and abstain from sentient blood. This was successful for a while, but when he eventually succumbed he became addicted and fell fully into his vampiric nature.

His early days on the isle are unknown, but it’s believed he has a history with the Dwarves (more research needed – see Snorri).

His first documented act found was an attack upon Bendir’s dale. He was trying to bully an elf into giving him blood, but was found by Miatze Fuzzypaw (see documentation) He was eventually chased away from the Dale, but did make several attacks on there.

Around this time also he had a long standing amnesty with the elf known as Qrow. They fought each other five times – and for the first four times there was no clear victor, one or the other having to flee.

At the last confrontation, Qrow set a trap for him, provoking him into going to Soulhaven Monastery. Qrow mocked Cruz with the fact that he’d escaped him before, twice, and that he was no good to his wife, and he would never get Qrow’s blood. He guessed Sanchez would be at the Shadovar (a regular stomping ground for his) and also sent a ‘friend’ to tell Cruz that he (Qrow) would be at the monastery.

Cruz – infuriated, went to the monastery and began to attack Qrow as per usual, but this time Qrow retreated out of the monastery – into the daylight beyond. Blinded by his fury, Cruz followed and was battered by the blazing light of the sun. Weakened by this, Qrow was finally able to defeat him.

Cruz was seen after this event – but did not seem interested in rekindling the nemesis, perhaps recognising that he’d been bested. (and nor is Qrow, not wanting to endanger his friends) – I’ve heard a verbal report that leads me to believe that he was seen and confronted once in Cordor’s Graveyard. And I also heard, from Qrow, that he was sighted in the Nomad, attacking a lady named Aria (or something akin to it) a purple haired elf member of Guldorand’s guard. Another bit of paperwork mentions that one Aria Aspenleaf was once kidnapped by a ‘male vampire.’ at the time of writing this lead has yet to be followed up.

Other Notes:

Fighting Style: Cruz is both difficult to hit and extremely resilient to damage. Some of the strongest blows by the best fighters have done very little to him. He goes into a furious rage, and can let out a bellow that can stun those around him. His accuracy with his blade is perhaps not as much as it could be, though certainly formidable. It’s unknown if he possesses much in the way of ranged combat abilities.

Socially he’s very much a ‘lone wolf’ There’s no record of him owning slaves, taking thralls or making thralls. He seems to destain underdark companionship, and spends most of his time in the Shadow Plane.

When not hungry or enraged, he can apparently be a reasonable fellow to deal with (in so much as any vampire is) – and is not driven by his rage all the time.

Cruz occurs to me as very much the ‘lone wolf’ – as aforementioned. Not stupid of course, but likely none too smart, driven mostly by hunger, rage and bitterness. Not really working in any main power structure as far as I am aware of. There’s been no reports of him for a while.
