I would like to begin the writ by professing my utmost respect and admiration to His Majesty King Edward Cordor for governing his people throughout the years and ensuring that the spirit of Saint Cordoria is kept through the virtues of Prosperity, Coordination, Order and Change.
It is with this spirit in mind that I pen His Majesty the following petition: it concerns the legality of abyssalist, infernalist and undead cults within Cordor and likewise the status of the faiths of the Black Sun, the Lady of Loss and the Storm Lord.
His Majesty's decree - professed in 177AR - stipulates important facts that have governed Cordorian society for a little over a decade, now:
The first is that all groups of faith are permitted free and unrestricted worship within Cordor.
The second is that undead and fiendish beings are unwelcome within Cordor.
I will begin the petition by elaborating on abyssalist, infernalist and undead cults: what they are and what they do is already evident enough, but it is important to highlight key facts that pertain to one's belonging to a cult.
The first is that cult members and leaders are hardly, if at all endowed with free will and the liberty to think, act, and believe in accordance with the righteous virtues that otherwise govern the Pax. Cults exist merely to profess, unfurl, establish, develop, build and upkeep the will of their patron fiends. If I were to take the Lord of the Dis as an example: his cults serve only to collect souls for their patron and develop the web of intrigue that the patron uses to remain secure within and without his realm. The same logic applies to demonic and undead cults.
The second is that fiendish and undead cults profess tenets that are inherently aligned against the wellbeing of the Pax and its statutes. If I were to take both the Lich Lord and the Father of Vampires as an example: cults to the aforementioned two are wholly dedicated to the spread of undeath in hopes of drowning the living world in its fell miasma.
With the lack of inherent freedom and fell tenets of fiendish and undead cults established, I will make the argument that these cults are merely a tangible extension of the will of their patrons, and that their presence is merely the physical manifestation of their patrons' presence. In other words, and in accordance with the Codex of Cordorian Law - I petition that fiendish and undead cults be given the same legal standing that fiends and undead beings already share within the Pax. That is to say - unwelcome.
In accordance with Cordorian Law, those found guilty of fiendish and undead worship will be processed as the current iteration of the Codex (188AR) specifies: the sentence will be passed on a case-by-case basis, and can range from a rehabilitation program, compulsory labour, fines, incarceration - and all the way up to the status of pariah. The ultimate goal, however, remains redemption over punishment.
On the worship of the Black Sun, the Lady of Loss and the Storm Lord:
It is important to specify that every faith adheres to an Orthodoxy - that is to say, the standard foundations and teachings laid by the Divinity itself in order to assist the faithful in worship. It is with this Orthodoxy in mind that I highlight the core principles of the aforementioned three faiths:
The Black Sun - Cruelty, Tyranny, Deceit, Corruption, Murder, Assassination, Strife, Societal Collapse, Extreme Monotheism, Human Sacrifice.
The Lady of Loss - Deception, Despair, Corruption, Anarchy, Subversion of Society, Strife, Religious Extremism, Hatred of Life and Light, Animancy.
The Storm Lord - Violence, Murder, Strife, Societal Collapse, Pillaging, Looting, Opposition to all forms of Order, Human Sacrifice.
The damage dealt by the cults of the aformentioned deities has been pronounced and felt across Cordorian history. Most notable among them is the infamous Black Witch of Cordor, otherwise known as Archmage Allana Coloana, who reigned throughout the first decade after the Arelith Reckoning and who was later overthrown by a triumvirate of Aristotelus, Sway Sand, and Kaeshan Se'Lhane, triggering the First Sharran War.
Considering the aforementioned facts, and being now vested in the knowledge that the Orthodoxy of the Black Sun, the Lady of Loss, and the Storm Lord is starkly aligned against the developing and upkeeping of Cordorian Society, I petition thus to revoke the privilege of groups of faith otherwise attributed to the three faiths, and replace it instead with the legal status of criminal organisation.
In accordance with Cordorian Law, those found guilty of such worship will be processed as the current iteration of the Codex (188AR) specifies: the sentence will be passed on a case-by-case basis, and can range from a rehabilitation program, compulsory labour, fines, incarceration - and all the way up to the status of pariah. The ultimate goal, however, remains redemption over punishment.
I will conclude by thanking His Majesty for his time and understanding, and that I look forward to the Royal Palace's reply.
