High above on the roof of the world,
Silenced are both song and dream.
In ancient times in a Kingdom of old,
Once ruled a Dwarven King and Queen

Pure white against the blue sky,
Rose one peak of the mighty Spires.
Within golden halls and columns high,
A thousand forges and blazing fires.

Under the mountain they carved and mined,
Taken by the beauty of the Stone's riches.
Silver and sapphire and gold intertwined,
Were never enough to fulfill their wishes.

High above on the roof of the world,
Lost are both tunnel and cave.
In ancient times in a Kingdom of old,
Once stood the proud and the brave.

Too deep they dug into the darkness,
Revealed was then the mountain's secret.
From it's heart poured war and madness,
And then they knew the pain of regret.

Long they fought with no aid nor ally,
Against the blindness of old hate.
Defeat came from the edge of a lie,
Foul greed the gate.

High above on the roof of the world,
Blood painted the snow in red.
In ancient times in a Kingdom of old,
All is gone, all are dead.
