In the year 153, Bendir was attacked by horrid, twisted shadows released by a corrupt warden.  While their numbers were many, Bendir and its Allies rose to the challenge and defended the peaceful lands.

It was a typical autumn day in the Dale; nothing out of the ordinary.  Then in the blink of an eye, a rolling fog engulfed all of Bendir, making for poor visibility and lots of worried citizens, for we knew the signs of an incoming attack, given the previous attacks on Cordor and Guldorand.  Elder Andriana Dirtytoes began routing all the locals back into their homes and away from danger.

Before all the fighting took place, Hawk'in Scout Tabitha Fuzzypaw ran to retrieve our defensive orb from its hidden location.  She brought it to the temple where it was thought the connection to the gods would be strongest.  However, it was not the connection we needed...

Just down the hill from the Hawk's Nest on the way to Burrowhome, a few mysterious doors appeared, and there was a moment of silence and tension amongst everyone.  The doors swung open and the shadows began pouring out in waves.  They were many, but we were stronger.

As Bendir and its Allies defeated wave after wave, the quick thinking of Rhael Silverwind helped close the doorway as he cast Gate directly into the doors, causing them to become unstable and eventually blowing up in all of our faces.  It wasn't a very powerful explosion, but an explosion nonetheless, and we suffered only one casualty.  Milo Fernward picked up the hin from the hill and ran him to the altar, for it was not yet his time.

Again, another moment of calm as we decided it best to destroy the remains of the attackers.  It wasn't but another few minutes before we heard the Hawk'ins yelling and fighting up the hill, right by our front gates.  The mad dash was on, the speedys flying, and the chaos happening again as the second door was discovered.

This time, we had more Wizards on hand.  Several allies began casting Gate on the door to no avail.  Rick Rage even started trying to destroy the doorway with a hammer.  But to our dismay, it only made the door bigger...and bigger...and bigger...

With the door growing larger, and the waves of shadows getting bigger as well, Nora Strobl-Klennad made her way through the chaos and up to the door with a handful of wax - a banishment sealant.  Seeing her work, Milo Fernward stood back to back with Nora, guarding her from any oncoming attackers and shouting for all to protect the Wizards.  Ember Joyleaf and her pack were tearing through the shadows fiercely, while Commander Gully Longbuck and the others assisted from the rear.  The Commander made sure to stay close to the Orb in case any shadows managed their way to the back lines, protecting it with his life.

It was during this time that Laena Betto stood guard over the Orb while Tabitha seeked out Commander Gully. Tabitha decided it best to bring the Orb out of the temple and up the hill, so together Laena and Tabby carried it out to the well.  However, it was too far away from the door to make a large enough impact.  She never lost hope though, and she believed in the hard work by many poured into the Orb.

Together, Nora and a few others managed to finish sealing the door as it too began to shake violently with pure energy.  Shouts were heard across the vicinity for everyone to back up, for we knew another explosion was imminent.  This one was even larger than the last, but not large enough to cause any serious injuries.

Once again, it seemed the attack was over.  Bendir's allies were fearful for their own homes, so many started to leave.  That's when it hit, the third door.  This one opened right in front of the inn, nearly knocking Artwain out of his stall.  This one looked to be the biggest door of them all.  However, given its proximity to the Orb Tabitha Fuzzypaw retrieved, only a few large shadows made it out before the door quietly shut, leaving no explosion behind.

As the third door vanished from existence, one final enemy appeared - a Shadow Dragon.  This shadow was eliminated so quickly that not everyone was even able to make it down the hill before it was dispatched.  Ember Joyleaf and her pack made short work of the beast.  Maybe its connection to the shadows was weakened?  We will never know.  But the important thing is, Bendir and its Allies were not to be underestimated that day, and due to the heroics of all those mentioned and those not, the Dale was again safe from the shadows.
